This movie is surprisingly touching, heartbreaking, and revealing of the best and worst of human nature. I shocked that it didn’t get nominated for many awards. The performances are complex, moving, and touching, and the storyline will throw you for a loop at the end. The songs are all excellent. Overall, the movie will leave you pondering a lot, at least it did for me.

Totally absorbing drama, with some great rock music, realistic protagonists and a wrenching ethical issue that's brilliantly touched upon in the last scene.

Probably one of the best film i watched.. the critics are paid or just plain stupid!

I thought this was quite a good film, covering the theme of male (or parental) grief, although it is by no means overly sentimental or sweet, yet I did feel it was a bit touching at times. I thought Billy Crudup did well in portraying the father, Sam, clearly struggling to figure out how to move forward after losing his son - the way he used his voice to speak the thoughts of his late son through the lyrics he discovers. Some of the songs were amusing or thoughtful and I enjoyed the scenes in which the songs were played in public - they were quite buzzing. Its quite a good film at making you think of how you can express yourself (or close relatives) through music, To be critical, a part of me felt like perhaps more emphasis should, or could, have been put on Sams son, on learning more about his life but then I suppose its meant to be more about Sam than about his son. It is a good film, a decent music related drama but I didn't feel it was especially brilliant so as to deserve a 5 star rating. I can't quite put my finger on what didn't work for it not to get the higher rating, perhaps other than a lack of context maybe (and perhaps the ending was a little cheesy) but I did feel it was quite a good film regardless, so I'd recommend it on that basis.

Really enjoyed this film. Whilst maybe emotionally manipulative in some ways, I still think it's a solid film that is an a brilliant vehicle for Billy Cudrups character piece that examines the highest grief possible. Highly recommend

Good movie, very emotional.

Rudderless provides a genuinely moving story of a father that struggles to cope with the loss of his son. As a music fan, this movie provides an interesting way of dealing with grief as Sam uses the music from his son to re-engage with the real world by trying to better understand the events surrounding his son. It is a cracking soundtrack and wonderful acting by Billy Crudup as the struggling father and Anton Yelchin as the young musician finding confidence in his own music. Make what you will of the third act twist, this movie will leave a lasting impression and is a great first up directorial effort from William H Macy.

this moviee make me cry two times

There is a good film in here somewhere but at the hands of Macy making his Directorial debut, he never really unearths it. The tone of the film is all over the place and at times it feels like a Hallmark 온라인카지노추천 Movie with an incredible script. Crudup, Fishburne and Yelchin all try their best and the soundtrack is really strong but you can't go for soapy melodrama and then just throw in the tonal switch that they attempt half way through here. I would say I'd be inclined to search out Macy's future work to see if he succeeded later on but looking at the reviews they look horrendous so I'll pass!

A pleasant surprise of a movie. The directorial debut of William H Macy is visual sound, pleases, and saddens your senses. Billy Crudup and the late Anton Yelchin deliver great performances. The supporting cast is sound as well. I caught this on the Starz free preview and didn't regret watching it one bit. Very well-done movie with some interesting story lines (no spoilers here). I would indeed recommend this anyone that enjoys movies.
