Sadie Reviews
Not nearly worth the aggregate audience score of 81% in Oct 2020. MAJOR plot hole - if you do what she did you're 90% certain to be a severe psychopath or affected by American violence, and on the off chance that you're not, your life is 100% destroyed. "It's gonna be OK" is not summary dialogue for the can of worms this opens but fails to leave out for all to see.
Not the most exciting movie to watch but definitely some take aways . The two teen actors in this movie just have it you can tell and they will get many many roles in the future. More of a drama than comedy as well if you were wondering . There definitely is a story to be told in this movie and I am sure it resonates much more with other people . 2.5. Nice people don’t break up families ! It was interesting to see the difference in perspectives of the same situation between the mother and daughter . Poor girl went thru some stuff . One thing this movie did do a poor job on is how a person handles a pill addiction ..... definitely not how it is
Intricate, dramatic story, believable and almost inevitable given that all the pieces are there in real life ready to combine and happen. Odd that with all the bigger things going on it was one small moment of one character's behavior that made me think "Oh come ON! That's all you've got?" I was expecting more of that character, but then people are often incomprehensibly weak. There's heartbreak and tragedy in this but you're not being dragged through a slough of despair. These are likable interesting people.
This movie has one thing going for it, unpredictability. Much of the rest of it makes me want to scream WHY?!? Why does that school counselor keep coming around? Even after he sees the mom with a guy way better looking then he is? Why is Sadie's best friend the most unintelligent, boring and dull human being on the planet? Why does Sadie only utilize her attractiveness twice in the movie and for the dumbest of reasons? Does this movie want me to pull my hair out?
This movie is fantastic! A deep, important story told through the eyes of a girl who's seen true hurt. I was immediately wrapped up in these characters collective world. I cared about each one of them and hoped for spinoff movies. I know the days of streaming are upon us, but this might be one I want on the 'ol blue ray shelf.
Brilliant, disturbing, poignant and witty. A fresh look through the eyes of a fiercely smart girl at a world off kilter. Incredible acting.
Believable, down to earth acting. I thought about it all the next day. Loved the music. Sophia made your heart ache for so many reasons.
Taking unexpected dark and disturbing twists and turns, Sophia Mitri Schloss's Sadie reveal the trailer teen's obsession not just with her absent father, but with her mother's life.
I did not know anything about this film going into it, and so glad. The ending was a complete surprise, and I'm still thinking about it many days later. Excellent performances from a naturally talented cast across the board, and a story that slowly grips you and pulls you in. A must see.
Saw this at SXSW. A very powerful and moving film, with fantastic performances. The lead girl was amazing, Melanie Lynskey and John Gallagher Jr. were perfection, and it was so great to see comic actors Tony Hale and Danielle Brooks be both funny and dramatic. Highly recommend!
