Sanctuary Reviews
It's an extortion movie on the surface, but not in the fun, pulpy way -- more in the “why am I still watching this?” way. I like these actors a lot, and Margaret Qualley is usually a delightfully unhinged energy I’m down for. But here? It's just kind of annoying. The whole tone felt confused. Like the movie couldn't decide whether it wanted to be edgy, romantic, or purely odd. And I’m not blaming the actors; the performances were solid. It’s the directing and overall vibe that felt muddled. At some point, you've got to let the audience in on what’s real, and this film was way too stingy with the clarity. In the end, it just didn’t land. A real shame, because there’s real talent here, floating around in a movie that doesn’t seem to know what it's trying to be.
Did not like Margaret's acting. Hated the concept of the movie.
A little confusing with the real and pretending at times. The passion and chemistry were both lacking.
The romcom I didn't know I needed. Rebecca was so unhinged, i love her.
BOOM SHAKALAKA YES GOD this is everything i've ever wanted actually.
Well scripted, well acted movie. Kept my interest from beginning to end!
One location, two hander, what is part of the game and what is not.. Worth the watch for Margaret Qualley who is always great
Clever, twisty and very entertaining!
If the opening shot of a movie makes you roll your eyes, trust your gut instinct and reach for the remote. This movie is neither a love story nor a comedy. It's a cacophony of unrealistic and irrelevant pseudo cerebral arguments that bear no relation to real life. The only redeeming part of the story is that no one else has to deal with these two awful characters.
Quick, exciting, funny. One twist after another. Great script, extremely well acted by both main chracters. If it weren't 2:30 AM, I'd watch it all over again right now! The only thing that was predictable was the last 5 minutes, but only if you understood every minute that went before that last 5.
Three of us started to watch this and gave up after 20 minutes because not ONE of us could even guess WTF was going on. It was THAT stupid.
This movie got exceptional performance and ending of this movie shocked me. Must watch
got through 45 minutes - hated every second. As of Feb 9th 2024 it has 89% audience score, should really be around 30-40%. this movie sucks
Visually stimulating... mentally, it falls short.
A stagey erotic thriller about an heir to a hotel company and his dominatrix, and the way in which their relationship seems to change when the heir's father passes away.
It's fine but doesn't live up to the expectations. There is a very strong sense of tension in the first minutes of the movie, where you expect the dominatrix slowly taking advantage of her client during his most vulnerable moment and from there you are expecting a wild ride of power plays. The power play is still there but fail to be thrilling or to maintain the tension as you understand quickly that the movie lean more towards a comic side, the dominatrix is smart at manipulate her client but to the viewers her wild energy make her more frustrating than menacing. It's not particularly erotic either despite the themes.
Great performances from the two leads and a plot that keeps you engaged.
This movie is trash. Is just a leecher blackmailing a man with mental issues. Nothing make sense and plot is ridiculous.
Beautifully written and very well shot! The actors are amazing. It was gripping from start to finish with its great writing. It's an elegant erotica, and the people hating on it obviously haven't experienced true sexual tension.
Both of the characters felt very annoying and movie tries too hard to be different and original. I could not wait for her to enter that elevator and leave already so the movie ends or have a decent second part.
