Satanic Hispanics Reviews
A very poor effort that is more annoying than entertaining. Exemplifiies the worst of what tends to make horror anthologies miss the mark.
A SWAT team raids a facility and finds only one survivor (Efren Ramirez) and as two officers interrogate him, they are informed there's more to the world than the natural. A tonally inconsistent feature, it nonetheless is worthy of an introduction to the various styles of Latino directors. I loved Ramirez's (Pedro in Napoleon Dynamite) vocal style. The appearance of San La Muerte is a wonderfully designed creature.3 Witty, uneven, gory
I watched this on Shudder, so I knew right away this is a big budget movie. I wasn’t expecting it to be. I’m a huge anthology lover; horror being my favorite. The stories were half scary half humorous. It’s quite blended I can honestly say it better than most “scary movies “ I’ve seen the past year or so and I’ve seen them all. I really enjoyed these directors and I’m excited to explore more of their work. If want to kill a couple of hrs give it shot, beware most of movie is subtitled.
I wasn't expecting to enjoy this movie as much as I did. Though I love horror anthology movies, they generally pitch pretty much to the middle--a couple great stories and the rest kind of meh--and that's what I expected here. This one surprised me at all turns. I found most of the stories pretty unnerving and the one I was supposed to find really funny I found downright hilarious.
Horror Anthology Delights With Curated Cultural Frights
Fun horror/comedy anthology film with an over-arching story that loosely connects the various chapters. Significantly better than I anticipated it to be.
It was boring 😴 and disgusting I do not recommend it, waiting time. Fue aburrida 😴 y asquerosa, no la recomiendo perdida de tiempo.🙄
SO STOOOOOOOOOOPID!!! WHY WAS THIS EVEN MADE?!
Worst film in the history of films. maybe ever!
waste of time, stereotypical and unconvincing.
I loved this movie! Equal juicy parts of horror and humor! I will definitely look to see what other movies these directors have made and make it a point to watch them!! A give SH a most enthusiastic thumbs up!!!
Fortunately there are two segments that carried this movie to a 2.5 score "También Lo Vi" and "The Hammer of Zanzibar" which are genius. The rest of it is cheesy, over the top and poorly performed.
"Mixed bag" is the perfect term for this admirable but flawed anthology. SATANIC HISPANICS follows in the long tradition of presenting horror stories in the form of an anthology, usually with some very loose device to tie the stories together. Here, the El Paso police have captured a mysterious man who identifies himself as "The Wanderer" and as they question him about the extremely unlikely scenario of having survived a massacre unscathed without actually being one of the bad guys, he has the opportunity to share with the cops some very interesting stories about other "supernatural" characters he has known. He tells 4 stories, two of them "serious" and two humorous. I'll say right here that the more humorous stories, particularly one about a vampire on a deadline, are by far the best. The two more serious efforts are marred by some pretty bad acting and sloppy resolutions. One should not have to scratch ones head and wonder "what was that ending?" The comedies (which I would argue the wraparound story is as well) are just a little tighter. Each story is directed by a different Hispanic director, and that's a fantastic idea as well. Not every director comes off equally well, as I mentioned, but it's still a great chance to let these folks show off some of their chops. The budget is VERY low indeed, and it shows in every story. But if you can appreciate that this low budget is forcing some creative work around special effects, sets, costumes, etc…that might add to your appreciation. In total, I think I appreciated the effort, but found the results to be spotty. 2 funny stories, 1 serious but interesting scenario and 1 complete failure (the politically charged middle piece just doesn't work as commentary, horror or even on the level of using editing to keep the viewer understanding the action) and an amusing wraparound story. In total, I'm exactly on the middle of the fence. If you're a BIG horror fan, in all its iterations, you might embrace this more than I did. As a horror fan, but not an obsessive completist, it's a "meh" for me.
YUK..... what were they thinking ! Don't waist your time.
I rarely post reviews of movies but I had to post my review on this one it was probably the worst movie I have ever seen in my whole life. Don't watch it's not even scary. If I could get my money back I would definitely ask for a refund.
This movie was terrible I was hyped about this movie but don't waist your money.
Ok look this is stupid absolutely stupid. Not worth your time and money!
I'm a lover of bad horror movies, and this one had some hilarious and amazing moments, but laughable cgi and some horrible repetitive dialogue could not save this one. Big thumbs up to Efren Ramirez for carrying the camp and suaveness. Big thumbs down for a ten minute gay joke in an otherwise funny 15 minute dick joke.
Really enjoyed the movie. The movie is composed of 5 stories, each sorry is unique; funny, scary, interesting. I really enjoyed it. Took a star off due to one of the story is making no sense.... The one about witch.
One of the best horror films in years! Amazing Mexican/Latino talent!!!!
