It’s a fun movie to watch but then that’s it. Actings are kind of underwhelming and the plot is too good to be believable. I watched it in 2004 and didn’t like it that much. I watched it again now, it’s just 3/5 movie for me. Maybe 3.5/5 but no more.

Saw 1, unlike the other entries isn't mindless torture with bloodshed. Saw 1 does have a few graphic scenes, but the scenes aren't that bad compared to even a fraction of the other films. This film for it's low budget has such great filmography and sequences, but do be advised that while this isn't that bad as the other films, it is still saw. Great watch. PS: Leigh Whannel is so hot 10/10

Saw is a must-watch movie for anyone, with being made greatly and full of interesting characters and plot twists, don't listen to the critic scores, this is an excellent movie and is better than its sequels, appealing to horror, thriller and mystery fans alike, if you have not seen please do it now

Always ready to see this in theaters. They should do a marathon of all of them.

A classic thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat

A surprisingly restrained first entry into one of the most infamously gory franchises of the horror genre. This movie is much of a mystery crime thriller with horror elements and traps as icing on the cake. The meat of the movie is refreshingly the mystery of why the 2 protagonists are trapped, who’s trapping them, and how to escape as we learn more about their past lives and their human instincts to cooperate or turn one each other in an extreme survival situation. Jigsaw’s philosophy that he “doesn’t kill his victims”, only “shows them how to appreciate life” is total horse crap, but luckily the movie doesn’t seem to buy into it but rather showcase his motives for a peek behind the curtain for our villain and how much he can manipulate people out of desperation. The acting is solid and the music ranges from iconically chilling to VERY early 2000s grunge music. Unlike its sequels, this movie properly builds up to its gory brutality and instead chooses to focus more on the tension of the looming threat of the traps to keep us hooked on seeing how the main characters will find a way out in time. It’s not exactly a masterpiece, but it’s a LOT better than what I expected and I can see why it had such a huge influence on the horror genre after all these years.

This is a good and solid horror film. It is original and clever. It pretty much checks all of the boxes making this a scary and entertaining fearful movie. The premise is set up early on for a thoughtful thriller with lots of twists and sadistic killing. The biggest surprise from a horror film is that the fundamental reason for the murderer is that he is trying to teach you the value of life. This offers one of the best original scares from beginning to end with many confusing plot twists and flashbacks. Everyone has something to hide. Respect life and entertainment this good and all that it inspired like Hostel (2005) but that is much worse.

Classic. Must watch horror.

Interesting story and original idea. Not perfect but very good.

Sin importar que te sepas el plot twist, aun te deja tenso y con la boca abierta. Los personajes te importan lo suficiente como para querer verlos vivos al final de la película. El concepto es único y brutalmente brillante. La edición aveces funciona pero no arruina la experiencia.

Personally I think this one is pretty good. The kills are ok, and the gore is good.
