Sea Fever Reviews
Poor, I'm afraid. It sounded so good from the publicity, but the "creature" is unexciting and the plot crawls along without any real sense of tension.
Intelligently written, well acted, and expertly directed. Effective science fiction with hints of cosmic horror. A thought-provoking slow burn that won¡¯t appeal to the Saw/Chucky/Jason crowd. Sea Fever is a film in the tradition of The Thing and Alien, but more sedate version with human relationships and interaction more front and center.
Awful story. Predictable but totally ridiculous. Not worth watching. Casting only surpassed in wierdness by the accents.
Loved this movie. The characters and performances were legit and this thought of being stuck on a boat with a parasite in the water is terrifying. Tim Treakle
This movie was stupid from start to (especially) finish. A complete waste of time.
Slow burner with a steady pace and suspense throughout before an ending that was kinda bland.

Enough going on to keep you in the story but unfortunately doesn't quite live up to its potential.
Kept my attention. Decent flick. Interesting creature.
"Sea Fever" is an effective thriller about a fishing trawler that encounters a giant, slimy sea monster that infuses the vessel with a deadly flesh eating virus. It's well filmed and acted, and the special effects, while not big-budget spectacular, are quite good. The story is, of course, implausible, but the biggest implausibility is that the captain of a rusty old fishing trawler could actually look like Connie Nielsen.
I liked it Vert creepy
A well executed film that turned out to be so very prescient at release as the world came to grips with a global pandemic. A small fishing trawler becomes trapped at sea and the crew find themselves dealing with some kind of unknown deadly infection. Tackling the questions of the individual sacrificing for the greater good, as well as how different people with differing personality traits may interpret the situation around them, the film builds on the already claustrophobic setting of the small ship at sea where young marine-biology student, Siobh¨¢n (Hermione Corfield) has been embedded as part of her studies. Siobh¨¢n comes across as slightly neurodivergent, and her very analytical approach to the unfolding situation puts her at odds with the very close knit and superstitious crew. The crew in turn expect her as the scientist to have the answers and solutions to what's happening, when in fact she is just trying to work it out herself. Tense and foreboding, with great performances by all, it's a great watch!
Tense and atmospheric with an intricate, intelligent set up, its unfortunately a horror movie that is all smoke and mirrors without any true scares. That doesn't make it bad, it just feels ultimately underwhelming
I liked this movie. The parasite like things and the way people died made me feel kind of depressed. I think that's part of the Director's goal.
The premise can be compared to The Thing/X-Files "Ice" episode, but taking place on a fishing trawler. Unfortunately the main protagonist is wooden and unlikable. The creature doesn't seem to follow any kind of logical life cycle, it just does what it does to make the story happen. Believable dialog and actions by the crew is short and far between. The forced ending wants to think they have built the protagonist into someone we should like and care about, her sacrifice throws back to some of the opening dialog but ultimately it's not as smart or well executed as the story presenter wishes. Almost every part of the story is a common trope, that should of been better done if they weren't going to explore any new ground. It's watchable but a poor way to pass the time.
A low budget affair with a mish-mash of "Irish" accents on a trawler off the coast that doesn't really amount to a truly satisfying whole. A decent, in parts, story about a group of people dealing with a virus brought on by contact with an unknown sea species and their attempts to deal with the problem. But it's just not that good in the end (with a couple of questionable character decisions) and it's hampered by its lack of budget, although not as severely as in a lot of other cases.
Unfortunately, Sea Fever borrows some classic tropes from other (better) films of similar genre¡resorting it to a forgettable, dull creature feature. The acting was pretty bland and none of the characters seemed particularly likable minus Omis. The creature was a bit of a letdown too¡and the way people¡¯s infection spread was pretty corny. It¡¯s too bad because it began as a relatively promising film
Sea Fever is a sci-fi body horror film reminiscent of the parasitic alien films of the 1980s. If The Thing and The Abyss procreated, you'd get this film. The thriller written and directed by Neasa Hardiman is a tension filled dive into the solitary life of protagonist Siobh¨¢n who is forced to endure a week on a ragged fishing trawler, miserably at odds with the close-knit crew to complete her studies. While is doesn't boast any exceptional jump scares despite the tight, dark and claustrophobic atmosphere it does offer dark atmospheric slow burning terror.
