With basketball movie pro Harrelson on the roster, Semi-Pro looked like a promising pick. Yet Ferrell's schtick doesn't stick and the film misses the opportunity to come up with something special. Instead, it's a string of SNL skits that were left in Lorne Michaels' trash can for good reason.

Best Will Ferrell movie. Best Basketball movie. And pretty darn funny!

This movie is just lovable. Instant classic. My mom truthfully doesn't like Will Ferrell (idk how or why) and I've never seen her laugh harder at a movie before.

Has ridiculous humor of most Will Ferrell movies but overall I liked the premise and found myself laughing plenty.

I am a huge basketball fan, if you love basketball and/or historical fiction or even comedies you will love this movie. It is not a movie for general audiences because I feel like too much of the humor will go over your head however, if you love basketball, watch this movie, it is one of the better basketball movies ever made with a prime Will Ferrell

james is the best character, i want more of buzz.

A pretty insipid and lazy comedy to be honest. Half the cast seem to be just going through the motions and a lot of the jokes just don't hit the mark.

Skip it, even if you are a Will Ferrell fan, it's hard to get through this at all. Unbearably try-hard and unoriginal "comedy" that just is sad. Go watch another of his comedies that is actually funny and not just a soulless cash-grab.

I TRIED to watch again for just my 2nd attempt ever, but outside of just the odd laugh, and few at that, I had troubles just trying to stay awake for this almost awful and pointless movie. The odd scene was funny yes but it was just so stupid overall for any good words to describe how it made me feel. I totally had forgotten how dumb this was when I first watched back in 2008. To be kind I will give this 1.5 of 5 stars as yes a few laughs gained that made it enjoyable for those few seconds each worthwhile scene. I will not be watching this ever again however! I am good for life now!

I love basketball and I like the ABA/the merger plot. Stereotypical plot and bad jokes but I really liked it overall.
