Serendipity Reviews
Lightweight romance may appeal to teens.

"Serendipity" will serve as an excellent gauge of any viewer's tolerance level for schmaltzy contrivance and manipulation.

There's nothing special or remarkable, but it's amiable and entertaining enough to make you forget that it's directed by the same man who brought the world Town And Country.

Despite borrowing two of its supporting cast from 온라인카지노추천's Sex and the City, the film has no bite and too few jokes; its unabashed romanticism is just plain flimsy when a vapid Beckinsale is supposedly The One.

Ultimately, it's the yin and yang that does Serendipity in. Balance is good, but it isn't particularly impassioned. Neither is Serendipity.
| Original Score: 2.5/5 | Mar 10, 2003
Well, of course Serendipity is only supposed to be a romantic comedy. But it can't be funny or romantic unless we can believe in it at some level. And this is quite impossible. It really is an affair to forget.

Wittily scripted, beautifully played by an excellent cast, and just so darned... nice, this is must-see viewing for the romantics.

A movie I found myself liking more than perhaps I should.

Fluffy and innocuous as Cool Whip, it is nonetheless uplifting, romantic and delightful, further enhancing the world's enduring love affair with the Big Apple.

Serendipity may be calculated, but the good news is that all that hard work never prevents it from being genuinely charming.

So stringently a 'romantic comedy,' you could review it with a pie chart.

Insipid, by-the-numbers romance.

An overfamiliar and exasperating game of cat-and-mousie.

A movie that never rises above featherweight.

There are some good moments that challenge the idea of predestined soul mates.
| Original Score: 3/4 | Oct 6, 2001
Pure confection, brainless but very, very sweet.

Pretty hard to resist as a guilty pleasure.

The movie generally punches the right buttons, at least for the true romantics among us; it just punches the same ones too many times and, occcasionally, too forcefully.

An exercise in the contrived and the overcalculated.

About halfway through you start wondering if anything else is going to happen to make things more interesting. The answer: Nope.
