Sergio Reviews
I liked it. It's nice biopic, you actually feel for him. Don't understand so many negative reviews. Although, this is something not regularly you watch and maybe that is what keep disappointing general audience.
A very good introduction to the history of Sergio, an interesting diplomatic from Brasil. Then you can researche more seeing the documentary.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought it was well acted and directed. I'm only sad that he didn't make it!
Good. I like the film.

Sergio - 6.5/10. Wagner Moura, famous worldwide for his career defining performance as Pablo Escobar stars in this Netflix film based around United Nations diplomat Sergio Vieira Demello's life. A political biopic, it shows the journey of the man and his pursuit to making a change in the world. Wagner gives a wonderful performance as the diplomat who has ideals and wants to make a difference. He's an actor who tries to convey performances through his eyes and subtle reactions. Ana De Armas, who plays his wife/fellow diplomat gives a great performance as well, continuing a good run for her in terms of character based performances. The rest of the cast do a great job as well, considering that the movie is a performance based drama, they all do well in their given characters. Unfortunately, the film suffers from a jumbled narrative. The film is edited in a confusing manner, jumping from one timeline of his life to another with less cohesion than you would like. If the film focused on certain parts of his timeline a little more, and then jumped to another part, the film would probably work better. The scene's with Sergio under the rubble reminds you a lot of the Oliver Stone film World Trade Center, and the dying man reminiscing of his life reminded me a lot of Hey Ram's film structure. The movie could have been something amazing had it had better editing and a more focused narrative. The movie is one of the better Netflix productions of recent times however, and is a good watch regardless!
Largely agree with the other reviews. Ana and Wagner were good, it seems like a good concept, the production values are high, it just doesn't seem to do justice to Sergio and misses. In addition to that I had too many hang-ups with the complexities of their relationship to care about the relationship by the end.
This story deserves to be told, but you won't always feel like you're on the same side as the protagonist.
Meh. The facts alone would make you think the movie would be more moving than it is....so when lovers finally talk through the rubble of a devastating bombing, you're left wanting to believe them more. Good look into aspects of post war Iraq, though
Sergio is a rather boring drama most of the time, it is not entirely "abominable" because of the performances of the protagonists (Wagner Moura and Ana de Armas).
Special Effects: 0,5/Sound Effects: 0,5/Acting: 0,5/Story: 0,5
The people who rated this low probably have no concept of the history of Iraq or East Timor. I worked for the UN actually replacing Sergio's team after their murders. We were based in Amman, Jordan for safety. Sergio was in my eyes a true hero and his story captivating. I highly recommend
Biopic movie, focused on the last moments of Sergio Vieira de Mello. They should have focused more real life than on a simple love story. Not worth it.
Slow, shallow and boring.
Sergio was my first introduction to Sergio De Mello and this film absolutely did not disappoint. Ana de Armas did a phenomenal job as Carolina Larriera and the love story that develops is full of emotions. Wagner Moura captures the essence of Sergio and Shows what a special individual he was. Sergio De Mello May not have been a great husband, but he certainly was a great man with intentions on quelling world conflict and this film does an exceptional job of respecting his mission.
