Seriously Red Reviews
The performances are entertaining and the story is one that most of us can relate to. Is it groundbreaking? No. But if you are looking for a movie that will make you laugh, feel good, and you enjoy Dolly Parton, this will be an enjoyable film for you.

“We need more Dollys in the world,” is the message of this raucous but hugely enjoyable comedy, which, at the same time, reminds us that there is -- and can only be -- one Dolly Parton.

Seriously Red is the kind of movie we should be getting instead of bland biopics.

Not as sharp as it should be... but it's got a lot of sweet and really wonderful scenes.

…makes a convincing case for why you should always aspire to be yourself, even when such pre-packaged and successful skins as Dolly Parton are around…

Messy or not, there’s still enough here to recommend a blasé Sunday morning watch. Even if it’s not that funny, the movie still exudes an innocent, warm glow.

A woman pays tribute to Dolly Parton by impersonating her but then the character starts taking over her life. Unique idea but not enough for a full length movie.

Destined to become a queer-beloved cult classic along the lines of "Priscilla" and "Muriel's Wedding," Aussie director Grace Otto's delightfully dizzy "Seriously Red" has one hell of a lead at its center. Krew Boylan…a star ready to be born.
| Original Score: B | Feb 16, 2023
This movie needed to give us more incentive to care about its characters. All that stands out are the music performances, and Boylan's chemistry with Webber.

[T]he humor and emotional beats never fully click.

Lead actor and screenwriter Krew Boylan is a better actor as fake Dolly Parton than writer. The film is set within the world of Aussie celebrity impersonators. Rose Byrne plays a faux Elvis. Austin Butler has nothing to worry about.
| Original Score: B | Feb 12, 2023
Boylan has the creamy skin and bright blue eyes to shine in the Dolly moments. The musical numbers, presented with sweetness and sincerity, are a lot of fun. The real life scenes are not as lively or effectively staged.

This entertaining Australian import introduces a provocative premise but has trouble figuring out what to do with it.
| Original Score: 6/10 | Feb 10, 2023
Seriously Red is a fun film that cashes in on the zeitgeist's love for Dolly Parton while giving audiences an important lesson in self-love.

Seriously Red has its moments but they don't add up to much.

The exploration is deep, very deep, so much so that one could easily imagine a much darker and edgier film could have been the result. As it is, "Seriously Red" sneaks up on you.
| Original Score: 3/4 | Feb 10, 2023
... struggles to find its rhythm with counterfeit personas who are more compelling than those without the makeup.
| Feb 10, 2023
Even at its bluntest, “Seriously Red” draws a lot of heat and light from Boylan, whose Red enjoys embodying the casual confidence, folksy wisdom and bombshell bravura of one of the world’s most beloved entertainers.

The effect given...is more garish than it is charming, with an unintentionally nightmarish fever dream of a dance sequence best representing this feature’s peculiar style.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Feb 10, 2023
Seriously Red abandons the simple, potential pleasures and humor of its premise for subjects it isn't nearly equipped to handle...
