The Shawshank Redemption Reviews
Beaches for straight men
Shawshank is a riveting prison drama that masterfully captures the horrors and tribulations of life behind bars. The film's depiction of the brutal conditions and emotional toll on its inmates is deeply unsettling. What's more disturbing is the revelation that the prison staff can be just as cruel and corrupt as the prisoners they oversee. At its core, the film is a powerful exploration of the human spirit's indomitable will to survive.
One of the most powerful stories about hope ever put on screen. It’s emotional, raw, and perfectly paced. Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins are incredible. Just a beautiful film.
One of the greatest ever. There’s nothing more that I need to say
The ultimate story of brotherhood and loyalty at the bottom and still holding on to the light. It holds up as one of the best films of all time.
A great movie with unexpected twist and great plot. Can be categorised as G.O.A.T still the middle part of the movie seems to be long .
Inconsistent behaviour from the main character meant that I found it unconvincing. Totally overrated movie.
Incredible movie. The pacing and storytelling through out the movie was amazing. Along with this, it has multiple truly hard hitting moments that really hit hard, like the death of a certain character mid way through the movie. It shows ability to make every individual character seem human along with its ability to keep us guessing on things was well done. Along with this it was able to effectively explain background of characters while still keeping the action going, like when the program to have inmates work outside the prison happened and how it showed the wardens motives. It also does well in giving complex characters for people who love analyzing movies to get more of to get while also still being able to be shown to a younger audience with full enjoyment. This movie has replay value for audiences as they get older and more intelligent and are introduced to more adult topics. The final thing is it masterfully puts adult topics in that a younger audience shouldn't get and topics for younger audiences to get also. Overall an amazing movie for older teens and adults, and I believe this movie is a must watch.
We watched last night. We liked it immediately
Not better than the minecraft movie 👎
It truly was a Shawshank redemption - Tandy Miller
I haven't met a movie like "The Shawshank Redemption" in my entire life, and I'm glad to say that we've gotten along quite well. It's the kind of movie that allows you to experience everything in the most real sense possible. It also can teach you all kinds of things, but the most important is hope, and hope is a common theme present in this movie. If you haven't met it yet, go ahead; it's something you'll regret if you don't meet it.
It truly was a Shawshank Redemption
This movie is no doubt one of the best movies and my number 6 of the top 10 best movies. Tim Robbins I find one of the top 10 actors as also Morgan Freeman. This is really a must-see movie just like the movies that are 1 until 5 on my top 10 best movies.
When I first heard of this film, I was sceptical; surely a film about a prison couldn't be listed as one of the greatest films of all time? A lot of the films on the list also tend to be overrated, yet I found that this film did, in fact, deserve all of the compliments and positive reviews that it gets. The raw brutality of the prison system was showcased in such an incredibly real way that I felt as if I was right there with the characters. On the subject of the characters, they all felt incredibly real and they were easy to sympathise with. There were many great scenes in the film, however one the most gut-wrenching and emotional was when one of the characters unfortunately committed suicide, representing how unjust the prison system is and how little support that ex-convicts receive on their release. This is a movie that makes you think, and is an overall good watch.
A really good movie about escape, etc.
It's just perfection . The direction , the cinematography , the score and story . This movie should have won at least an Oscar for cinematography . The way it portray's life in jail is magnificent and how guard behave . I will recommend watching this masterpiece.
Written beautifully, the emotions this movie brings are truly incredible and the scene where brook kills himself almost made me cry. I loved the surprise the movie brought when Andy escapes, because he borrowed rope I thought he was killing himself, but luckily he was only dragging his belongings. The reunion at the end between Andy and Red was beautiful and I felt so glad they met each other again. Acting was brilliant too. This is my 2nd favorite movie sandwiched between Terminator 2: Judgement Day and The Godfather.
I am watched it three times and ready to see it again. So many twists and turns and a surprising ending. Great acting by all!
Movie was perfect. One of those movies you can watch over and over again.
