Showing Up Reviews
Best part was the free macrame demo at the end. Pointless, dull, waste of time.
Kelly Reichart creates wonderful character pieces that only appear mundane to the inattentive. Her ordinary settings host stories of quiet ambition and perseverance, and Showing Up is her best since the underrated Night Moves. The characters seem cold and distant from one another, but gradually bond over seemingly inconsequential things like wounded birds, broken water heaters and neighborhood art shows. Michelle Williams continues to be one of our most surprising and adventurous actors.
Extremely well directed and acted film. You almost feel like you are watching a documentary. It will appeal to people who like intelligent, character-driven films but not those looking for a lot of action, a fast pace, or wild plot twists. Its an art house film in the best sense of that term and a truly great one. Michelle Williams performance is extraordinary even by her lofty standards.
Acting talent was good. The rest was boring. Difficult to stay awake.
Slow, no story, no point.
Good, but not as good as First Cow. Hong Chau is going to be the greatest actor of this era. I want her in everything!
Very, very slow & boring
