Deserves a way better rating

This movie is WAY too hated, if anything this movie is amazing to me, even though there's not many great jokes sometimes it's better without the jokes because this movie is more focused on the plot than the joke and for me that's fine. We had prequels that are amazing (except shrek 3), anyways it's a great abd emotional movie.

This movie is very overhated. I don't understand why people hate it so much... could it be because that one 2007 DreamWorks movie ruined the series reputation? If so, that's not a good reason. This movie is good, and if people can't see that, then... I dunno--

Such and underrated movie! Also such an awesome final movie! I hope they don’t make a a 5th one with Illumination!!!

An improvement from the atrocious third movie, but just a rinse and repeat theme. How many stories can you drag out from the same character? While I was excited about the Shrek 5 announcement after the marvel of The Last Wish, this reminds me why the Shrek series was supposed to have concluded. Oh and once again Fiona sacrifices a part of herself so Shrek can get his fairytale ending, the messaging is on par with older disney movies. Trash. Not as bad as 2 and 3 were with it, but still there all the same.

It has splendid animation and emotional depth

Man hopefully they keep this the ending of the series...

Shrek para sempre não é um filme muito ruim, mas é o filme mais infantil da franquia, e tira um pouco daquela essência principal do primeiro filme e o segundo, mas, é um filme bem engraçado pra mim

this is the best way to end the shrek series. they should just leave the series alone with this movie ending it instead of trying to continuing the story further

Underrated movie with incredible writing that perfectly ends the franchise. After learning to open up to people in the first movie, accept himself in the second, and change his kid's diapers in the third, Shrek finally learns to appreciate who and what he has, through a genuinely dark and twisted journey that deals with trauma and true sacrifice. We see the world views of Shrek and Fiona flip, culminating in some incredibly powerful moments by the end. Darker movie, but trades half-arsed jokes for creative writing and stunning animation.

My opinion of this movie is that it is much better than its predecessor Shrek the Third and this movie is a masterpiece and we should value this underrated gem as it is much better than Shrek the Third

It's a movie that carries the weight of many people's childhood as the conclusion of a great saga (omitting the third one). I don't understand why it's so criticized. Many people can easily relate to the central theme that nothing in life is certain, and above all, that "you never know what you have until you lose it", a very cliché phrase but full of truth. The only thing I could understand is that not everyone likes romance or this type of storyline, but even so, I find its rating way too low.

si bien no arriesga nada, Shrek 4 no es tan mala como la tercera y es un buen cierre para esta saga muy buena.
