Significant Other Reviews
Unsettling and Awkward moments fill your nerves with mesmerizing thoughts provocatively capturing your attention to dark and twisted interests. An edge-of-your-heart pulse-pounding exquisite sensation.
I put this movie on for my wheelchair bound grandma, it was so bad she got out her wheelchair for the first time in 30 years to turn the tv off.
Liked the first 40 or so minutes and then it turned into this really stupid SciFi alien battle. Meh.
SIGNIFICANT OTHER is solidly b-movie fare, neither particularly interesting as survival or as sci-fi, though it does try to make the most out of its many limitations.
Lost interest at first 30 minutes.
I really loved the twist/reveal mid-movie. The acting was INCREDIBLE!! It’s a different take on the usual alien invasion trope. I highly recommend it!
Every movie I've watched with her in it has been great 👍🏾
This movie is pure chaos. The twist is in line with The Perfection and Barbarian in that it catches you completely off-guard if you go in blind and requires a second viewing to see all the things you missed. Many questionable decisions after the reveal, but the fact that you won't see it coming is enough to warrant a decent score.
Kept my attention, kept me guessing, scary vibes, cool concept. Certain moments made gasp; others made me laugh. It was a fun film.
It sucks! The movie isn't scary, dramatic, funny, nothing. It transmits no emotions whatsoever. Don't event bother watching it. The end is the girl killing the alien but then the alien just comes back to life after she left 🤨
It was great until it went nuts. Too goofy for me!
Horrible movie. Huge waste of time. Beware!!
Uneven pacing and goofy tone shifts don't make Significant Other a complete waste of time, but they do defang what could have been a promising addition to the alien horror subgenre.
Interesting, weird, unique storyline. Lacy is terrific.
If you looked at the ratings and say, oh this looks good, you are in for a surprise. Starts off really great. Suspenseful and interesting. Then Harry comes back from being thrown off a cliff and is an alien, and it just gets stupid.
Jake Lacy is so underrated...he's great in everything he does. In this movie, he's funny and terrifying at the same time. Very enjoyable sci-fi / horror flick with lots of twists and turns.
Started compelling, ended a must see.
Looked like it might be something interesting, but it took too long to setup and once it did it wasn’t all that interesting.
Slow start with unsatisfying setup of female lead character's past trauma, but once I got past that, filmmakers accomplished 100% suspension of disbelief (sober viewing even!). Negligible plot holes if any, and inconsequential if that. A couple nice plot twists & bends. Nearly 5 stars. Let's see more like this!
