This is in my top 5 favourite movies of all time. I also think it's a masterpiece, not just a favourite of mine. I know it's a remake, and have not seen the original one, but they really nailed it with this movie. Elizabeth Olsens first or second movie that she shot simultaneously with Martha Marcy May Marlene, which is actually a good double feature since they do have connections you can make on your own. And Elizabeth is excellent in this movie. Really, really strong performance with a lot of nuance, and was a sign of things to come with the psychological characters she was to play in the future. Chris Kentis and Laura Lau did a fantastic job with the directing, and the editing crew they had with them, production in general was amazing. They really made the scenes seem seemless as it is all shot, and edited as if it is one take. The music and sound is brilliant, it brings an eerie vibe and gives you that sense of tension as if something is looming, and brewing. The story is so intriguing, and once you start to find out what's actually going on, well, then the movie stays strong and keeps you on the edge until the credits roll. Which is difficult to do once the mystery has unravelled. Thank you for this movie, everyone who got it made. Thank you!

On a technical level this movie is actually kinda impressive and the performance by Elizabeth Olsen but it’s an standard Ghost Story

A good thriller movie. Trying to be one take. Actor Elizabeth Olsen's acting in this is highlight.

The tension was good throughout the film, as was Olsen's acting, but you can pretty much see the ending coming from a mile away fairly early….

it's a remake of an Argentinian horror picture of the same name but nothing especially groundbreaking in the genre of horror here but Elizabeth Olsen is shaping up to be a young, prestigous actress she carries the film on her own the 1st half is cleverly creepy being shot in the dark, the 2nd half really tests the viewer knowing what's actually haunting this house and of course the ending sadly disappoints the fact that Silent House is also a one-shot picture is astonishing too since there are no cuts or any other edits it may be disorienting for some but anyone who can handle it should be ok some parts made me jump a lot too if you think this is another found-footage flick you are certainly wrong this movie is a sure showcase for the 3rd Olsen sister

good twist ending but film is very slow good performance by elizabeth olson but its very slow moving and more like a thriller than a horror film its ok saw it on max app. decent film will be too slow for some. i enjoyed some of it.

This movie left me a bit dissatisfied with the twist at the end of the film.

Controversial but honestly I liked this movie a lot, it's top 5. You just need to watch this completely alone and in the dark.

I've seen this movie twice now and both times, despite a stunning performance from Elizabeth Olsen, it always seems to disappoint. I think it had a lot of potential, but they tried to cram too much into the last 30 minutes without creating an (even slightly) cohesive plotline. I understand it was supposed to be disorienting but it just made the movie feel incomplete. I think if they had been more organized and made all of the running, screaming, and panting scenes a little shorter, the movie could have been more effective. Side note: I also felt like the "childhood best friend" was an unnecessary character. Respectfully, she added nothing to the film.

Terrible. Una película que se puede ver solo al 50% debido a las innumerables escenas oscuras que presenta sin contar que del otro 50% vemos solo gritos y más gritos. Recién hacia el final podemos ver algo de "historia" siendo un plot completamente flojo y que no nos lleva a ninguna parte. Entiendo que es copia de otra película, pero, si la original es igual de mala, no entendería por qué alguien quisiera copiarla.

I think this movie took more crap than it deserves. It was well executed, good acting from Olsen, a chillingly haunting score that will keep you awake because it will be replaying in your mind as you try to forget about it and sleep. And I think the ending is fine, and that a lot of people reviewing it really think they are the center of every movie directors universe, while not realizing it's just them. Silent House succeeded where the Blair Witch Project did, low budget and relying on fear of the mind more than fear of a ghost, demon, or person. It also had a psychological twist in M Night Shymalan proportion that made sense and really made you realize how much trauma Sarah was induced to. You feel for her and as hard a topic as sexual molestation is, it's very real and needs to be addressed and discussed rather than people getting offended over bringing it up and having a character in a movie suffering from it.

2nd VIEWING: 4* (scared me a lot more the 2nd time around) The tension/suspense is palpable throughout, rarely giving you a break to catch your breath. And there are plenty of scares. Really really enjoyed it the 2nd time around. And once again thought Elizabeth Olsen was spectacular. 1st VIEWING: 3.25* I was pleasantly surprised by this film as I went in not expecting much. I'm a huge fan of the stunning Elizabeth Olsen and watched this bc of her and she did a great job in the lead role. Overall it ended up being a pretty good psychological horror. I'm not the biggest fan of the ending and that prevented the film from being rated higher than 3.25*. But Acts 1 and 2 successfully established a creepy atmosphere and there were some scares too.

Terrifying to been, this is a movie that you'll want to cover your eyes!

A descent story poorly written and directed. The final shot of her leaving the house with a clean, bodyless room behind was stupid. Not sure what writer and director were thinking. I mean you delivered the twist. The audiance now understood it. Why twist us out of the twist. Made no sense. As far as the way it was filmed, i get it, but it failed. Heres why. 50% going to love it, 50% going to hate it. Just film it normally and the you lose the 50% hate group, while the 50% love group dont care because they dont know what they missed. Also, the contineous gratuitous shots of Ms. Olsen's cleveage weren't needed. In closing Elizabeth did an excellant job with a subpar script. Not enough to recommend this movie to anyone other than a joke.
