Silverado Reviews

Story got a little disjointed around the one hour mark. I felt like it skipped around, or I missed something. Lawrence Kasdan is a great film maker. His cast was wonderful.

All of the actors were top notch. Kevin Kline did quite well though the genre may have been out of his comfort zone. John Cleese was even good in his limited role. Watching a young Costner was fun.

I love it. The characters. The setting. The adventure. The drama. It’s an actor’s paradise. Everyone came to the show with a little something extra, especially Linda Hunt, who adds more charm and grace to the movie than they probably thought they’d get. And let’s not mention, the ever present sinister smile of Brian Dennehy who owns the screen with every shot. Westerns aren’t generally my thing, but this one really stuck with me over the decades. It’s my go to when I just need good story telling.

Any western which has John Cleese as a sheriff is bound to fail. Totally unconvincing - give it a miss.

One of the best westerns ever. Actually an update of the 3 (4) Musketeers. Great emsemble cast. Predictable but wel done. A must watch.

Not great, but OK. In the line of many other westerns

A Western with a very busy plot.

A great movie with a top cast.

One of the last great traditional westerns if not THE last one. The best way to describe this is this is a 50's Golden Era style western made in the 80's. The music is amazing and is the best thing easily. The cinematography is really good with amazing sweeping shots and landscapes that rival John Ford. The only issue is the action while well done including the awesome stampede, it can be a bit over the top/ a bit cliche'd at times like missing a lot of shots but in others hitting super percise like in between someones legs on the first hit. The editing isn't bad but is probably the weakest part especially in the middle. While the plot on a big picture is easy to follow, it gets bogged down at times when it jumps between all four heroes and more in the middle when other characters get introduced. It can be hard to follow at times because it gets so jumpy and has trouble relating each individual story into one tight narrative until the end battles which are well done. It defintely could be a lot tighter written and had them more together in the middle though the story lines are interesting. What helps is this is well acted and paced. It's never really boring and the characters are all memorable and stand out though some are better than others. Costner can be annoying sometimes, Paden can be a bit wooden at times but even still they're good overall. Glenn starts out stronger but kind of fades in the second half. Glover is really good and is the best thing. The villians are solid also. It defintely is a bit goofy and cheesy at times and probably could've been a bit more serious but it's got charm and is well directed and acted overall. Anyone who is a fan of any actors in this, westerns, or the director will like this.

Good movie, but an really aweful tinny and excessively laud sound track, one of the worst ever, which ruins the movie as you need to shut it down

For 40 years, I'd always avoided watching Silverado because every trailer I'd ever seen made it look like a 온라인카지노추천 western with less grit than a Disney movie. Finally watched it &...it was exactly as the trailers advertised. I agree with Gene Siskel's review verbatim. It is beautifully shot, & Linda Hunt's & Brian Dennehy's performances are the only good ones in it. But the film is chock full of the cheesiest tropes imaginable. And of course all the gunfire & nary a drop of blood spilled. Lawrence Kasdan, the director, attempted an homage to the upbeat westerns of the 1950s & early 1960s, but the only thing achieving that was the musical score. Most of this film just made me roll my eyes. Kasdan should have known better than to regress after we've been treated so well with Clint Eastwood's westerns.

Pretty cheesey. It couldn't decide whether it wanted to be a western or a comedy. A bit too similar to City Slickers for me to take it seriously.

This classic Western was really good. Scott Glenn, Kevin Kline, Kevin Costner, Danny Glover, Brian Dennehy, Jeff Goldblum, and the rest of the cast did a fantastic job in this movie. The plot of the movie was dramatic, entertaining, and thrilling. It's about fighting against corrupt deputies in the town of Silverado. If you haven't seen this movie yet, check it out sometime. It's a must see.

A classic old-style western with memorable lines.

Fun romp of a western. Not a lot of substance. Linda Hunt, Brian Dennehy, Danny Glover and Kevin Cline are all really great. Costner is just plain fun, here. I rewatch this on the regular because it's just a sort of fun western. Yes, some bad things happen. But mostly just pass the popcorn.

great actors, terrible acting, bad just about everything. At first I thought it to be a parody of a 60's western. About as convincing as donald trump...

"Silverado" is like a mixed bag of trailside jerky – it's got some tasty bits but also some that leave you wishing you'd gone with a different snack. First off, the soundtrack hits you like a shot of fine bourbon, setting the stage for a classic Western showdown. The cast is a star-studded rodeo, with Kevin Kline, Scott Glenn, and Danny Glover riding into town. But here's where the wagon starts to creak. This movie is longer than a cattle drive in a storm; it could've been trimmed down to a more manageable size. The pacing is slower than a tortoise on a hot desert day, making you yearn for a galloping horse to kick things up. And don't get me started on the subplots; it's like trying to follow a tumbleweed in a windstorm. In the end, "Silverado" feels like a wild ride through the wild west with some bumps in the trail – entertaining at times but with more dust than gold. Yeehaw!

A rousing exciting feel good action packed western filmed in the 80's. A great ensemble cast and an exciting soundtrack by Bruce Broughton.

Lacks dramatic focus and tension. Lost Blobbo completely at some point. Decent score, but who cares?

The first thing to value and appreciate in a western is that it is made according to the classic formula. The cast does an admirable job and at no time does the plot tend to lose its vigor.
