Sing Street Reviews
One of the most pleasing movies I’ve seen in a long time. The cast play their roles to perfection, the music is fantastic, and the story pulls you in from the start all the way until the credits.
Sing Street is an absolute joy to watch. It's been a long time since I’ve felt so uplifted and entertained by a film. The music, the characters, and the heartfelt story all come together perfectly to create a feel-good experience that sticks with you long after the credits roll. It's a charming and fun ride from start to finish, and it's hard not to smile throughout.
What can I say this movie was amazing I've watch twice now. It's so enjoyable to watch I highly recommend this movie for anyone who is looking for a feel good movie and just want a good laugh. They have the casting perfect the director did a brilliant job and the music is bang on amazing. I can't praise this movie enough I love it probably one of favourite movies of all time. Flora and son is very much the same. I love this director and the fact he is from Galway like myself is even better.
Feel good, heartwarming, inspiring, great music - yet another example of a movie with powerful emotions, no big budget necessary.
Another deeply personal and emotional film that hits me in the gut like a freight train. Sing Street is perfect and is in my top 10.
Has become one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time. Adore the music, the performances, and how 1980s Dublin was brought life. It's like I wasn't watching a movie anymore, I was watching these events unfold in real time.
Loved it. Fun, uplifting and entertaining.
Lovely music and a story with heart.
Easily one of my all time favourite movies! Loooove it , it's a must watch for anyone who loves Indy music films or just loves Ireland
A terrific nostalgia piece for the 80s, a celebration of music, and a celebration of young love. I usually loathe films that sound like that, but this one is pretty irresistible. A boy puts together a band to impress a girl who he invites to be in his music video (there was no band when asked her). That setup may sound like a rather conventional teen comedy but this 1980s Dublin set story has a heart to it that you rarely get in most teen comedies. It's from writer/director John Carney, creator of the fantastic Amazon anthology series MODERN LOVE and the equally great films BEGIN AGAIN and ONCE. What I love about Carney's work is that he tells stories that manage to feel whimsical yet rawly realistic. His story pitches must sound completely conventional, but his careful balance of realism and movie artifice makes his films feel unique. I also love how music always plays an integral role in all of his films. With a story about a group of kids putting together a band in 1985 offers Carney the perfect opportunity to put some classic 80s tunes on the soundtrack and for the band to create their original songs riffing on everything from Duran Duran to The Cure. Featuring a cast of immensely talented unknown teens (particularly Ferdia Walsh-Peelo as the boy leading the band and Lucy Boynton as the girl he's trying to impress), and with some familiar adult actors (Maria Doyle Kennedy from ORPHAN BLACK and Aidan Gillen from GAME OF THRONES as the boy's mom and dad, and Jack Reynor from MIDSOMMAR and some TRANSFORMERS movie as the "wise" older brother who is full of advice on both girls and music), the cast is utterly perfect. I could not picture anyone else playing any of these parts! SING STREET is a film I defy anyone to not be completely enchanted by. Five stars may be overpraising for this film, but I had a stupid smile on my face throughout the entire movie. Highly recommend!
Excelente película, emotiva, divertida y con un excelente soundtrack
I never felt good. Not a feel good movie as claimed by others.
I was apprehensive at first, expecting some awful musical with large amounts of people dancing around like the sound of music. I loved the shots of liberties Dublin and especially Synge Street CBS school where I spent 10 years of my life and where my grandmother was born. The Christian Brother was true to life, a typical prick. I came across a few like him and there were others much worse than him. I was more than pleasantly surprised by the film. Great cast, great characters. Great story. Great music. Loved the leads. Loved the movie. 4 times and counting. As the late GB would have said, well done.
I love this movie! The music in this is great!
For Brothers Everywhere. First and foremost, the music in this movie is genius (and quirky). I have been listening to the album on repeat after finishing this movie a week ago. Sing Street is perfectly described by using Raphina's words: "happy-sad". I cried a bit, smiled a lot and enjoyed every minute, even the painful ones. Though a love story on paper, the purest relationship is between the brothers. The respect they have for each other and how they comfort one another is one of the best parts of the film. All culminating in a beautiful finale, the love the brothers have for each other is palpable. Some of the characters were underdeveloped and storylines were buttoned up too quickly, but the movie hits all the feels. We are meant to create and grow, and Sing Street illustrates that message beautifully. This is one of those movies that gets better after each viewing. Best Character: Brendan Best Scene: Writing "Up" Best Quote: "Will you help me right a song?" - Conor. "Always." - Eamon. Best Song: "Drive It Like You Stole It"
This movie was an instant classic for me. I am a fan of movies about music, not musicals, but films about bands/musicians (Whiplash, La Bamba, The Doors, Walk the Line, etc.) This one nails it on every level: Great story, great music, likeable characters and good humor. I watched it for the third time the other night with my girlfriend and it still shines bright. Highly recommended
Sing street is about a new boy who is attending a new school to cut down on expenses before this he had been going to private school but now, he is going to public school his family are very musical and all have their own talents singing, Playing instruments Etc. Conor Loler is the main character in the plot he attends a new school where he is presented with fighting shouting and a uncontrolled school system he makes friends and forms a band and he meets the girl of his life. The plot starts when he attends the school, he is presented with fighting pushing bullying and more he experiences this when somebody makes him dance in a room a bully known as "cool guy". He then meets his new ginger friend who had also experienced it and decided to form a band, He met friends who played instruments and helped with the band, He gets a girl for his music video who he falls in love with and they become a great band together. There are many good things about the film the character development the family' and how every character has a certain personality, Mr. Stricklin character is seen as a bully and everyone is scared of him even when he appearance he Is the only one of the staff that the students would listen to he sees all the fighting when they think he is not looking but does not take action, His character really helped develop Conor as a character he made him form a band because he was scare and motivated and that set the course of the movie, His family are struggling financially and the family never really could start a band but when condor attended the school it motivated him to, His brother was very motivated also but when he was born he was very jealous and his career fell from there. Overall them movie is good it has a good character development a good plot a good setting and really sets the moment of 1990 I would recommend this to all ages I think, especially people who like romantic comedy movies and music. Star rating overall, I would give 2 stars as I'm not into romantic movies but I think if I was it would be an enjoyable movie, I did like the "comedy" but overall, it wasn't enjoyable for
