Sinister 2 Reviews

Mar 30, 2025

I personally enjoyed this movie more than the first one. Much creepier digging into the past of many dead children killing their families. This movie is a great watch

This was a good movie. Despite what people say, star power does not make a movie. The characters give you people to root for. It is more the suspenseful side of horror. Give this a try, screw the critics.

Not a fan it's just boring and very forgettable

A lot of people seem to hate this movie, but I don't get it. I quite enjoyed this as a sequel and a fun horror movie. This is a fairly standalone sequel to Sinister. The only real tie this has is the tapes and my favourite character in these films: Officer So and So. He's an effective tie to the first movie. We also get to see more about how the children who make the tapes are manipulated into killing their families, and it's interesting. The true horror of Sinister 2 is peer pressure, I guess. The tapes are also great in this movie. They aren't as good as the first movie's, but they're still quite good. Seeing the process of them being made is also quite a treat that I'm glad we got. Of course, the tapes have less of a low quality vibe to them, but the vibe still feels like the tapes from the first movie, so it's not completely different. I'm rambling, aren't I? Well, I like to ramble. If you don't like your reviewers rambling, you're reading from the wrong reviewer. Overall, it's a fun sequel to Sinister with good tapes and an entertaining plot.

Literally fell off..

Just a terrible follow-up to the brilliant prequel. The sequel starts where it should have, but maintains nothing of the previous film atmosphere. On the other hand it introduces several new factors that take the tension and scare-factor of the first movie completely out, leaving a bland experience overall. Additional fatal flaw of this sequel is they somehow forgot the "less is more" that when used properly worked so well in the first installment.

Ending blows big dick, unanswered questions, forced sequel

Sad, predictable and not frightening. More hours of my life I can’t get back.

Doesn't clarify much from the first movie, some very stupid moments. The way they introduced kills was dumb. Overall just a awful sequel to a decent first movie.

Need to watch the first one to understand what is going on. It was not scary at all. Just the overwhelm a bad movie

Sinister 2 has a couple solid performances in the two leads, but clunky writing choices, mediocre direction, poor effects and some ridiculous kid acting make this just a bad sequel. It's honestly baffling how underwhelming this movie is, because C. Robert Cargill and Scott Derrickson wrote the script, yet it feels rote and tiresome.

My lord this movie is not scary, unlike like the original.

Sinister 2 is a terrible attempt to continue an interesting first film, there is a good plot here that leads us to the stupidest confusion

It is not anywhere near as good as the first sinister, but I got to admit, some of the tapes that were shown were disturbing to me

To say this film doesn't live up to the first 'Sinister' is an understatement, it doesn't carry nearly the same amount of terror and I'd say that this is partly because of Bughuul's constant presence - I mean this in the sense that what made the first one so chilling was his lack of presence, it was the fear and unknowing of him being there that made it so nerve-wracking. However, Ciarán Foy clearly didn't get the memo, and Bughuul became this antagonist that was always in our sight - making him far less horrifying since his face and his mere presence became familiar, and his jumpscares far less frightening because we knew he was there; there was no surprise to it at all. If this film had no connections to the first and was simply a stand-alone film, then I'd say it was decent film - but because it doesn't match the atmosphere or arguably the lore from the first film, it is an inherently bad film. Fortunately, as most films do, 'Sinister 2' has its upsides and for this film I cannot deny that it is well-written, and the overall plot is certainly gripping.

what kind of out of their mind sicko writes a film like this and leaves so many loopholes in? this film was diabolical and i cant believe some freak of nature would leave us with so many unanswered questions after traumatising us and leaving us sat speechless. you are a disgusting pig, how the hell did zach get his family on crosses with a bag over their head, being the skinny runt he was? actually, how did any of the tiny little children get their families set up to be brutally tortured and killed? where are they getting god damn hot rocks, rats, big wooden crosses, hanging them upside from a tree, ABOVE WATER!!!! and where did the get god forsaken crocodiles trained to bite peoples heads off???? what on gods green earth happened to the children after they maliciously slaughtered their families? why are they ghosts?? did they kill themselves??? and what the hell. just what the hell. i am so criminally speechless and confused with the state of this film, sort your life out you physcotic monster, how does one even think of such horrid ways for people to die?? you must be out of your mind. you belong behind bars in an insane asylum. i hope this review has helped you come to terms with the fact that you should never create another film again (apart from sinister 3 to answer my questions) you are an awful person, you deserve nothing in life. i hope your child attacks you the same way your victims were attacked in the film, you raving lunatic. get gone. you disgusting animal.

Although the Sickening cassettes make a comeback in the sequel, Sinister 2 is ultimately a huge disappointment.

Probably one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Compared to the first one, this was an awful expercience. The plot doesnt make any sense, the acting is bad, and the storie is so confusing. You get lost in this movie, you lose respect of Bughuul, and they explore too much the ghostly children . The only likeable character continues to be the policeman

Sinister 2 fails to live up to the eerie atmosphere and genuine scares of its predecessor. The plot feels disjointed and lacks the impact of the original, resulting in a poor and forgettable horror film that falls short of capturing the essence that made the first movie so captivating.
