A wonderful movie to watch again and again. And also be sure to check out Sister Act 2 which is equally rewarding!

Nostalgic and comforting, Sister Act manages to be a strong and at the same time delicate comedy.

This is just about the perfect movie. Harmless comedy, fun and memorable characters, this is proof that the 1990s truly was a decade of many films that are palatable, watchable, and lovable.

filme legal, o roteiro é bacana, mas o que deixa o filme legal é a Whoopi Goldberg, alguns personagens secundários são bons mas claro, não carregam o filme que nem a sister Mary Clarence.

In this Touchstone release, Whoopi Goldberg stars as a Reno lounge singer that witnesses a murder and is put into protective custody inside a San Francisco convent. Whoopi kills it as “Sister Mary Clarence'' and really brands this movie with her style of comedy. The movie does start a bit slow, but picks up once Mary Clarence joins the choir. This is one of the first soundtracks I bought after this movie came out and I feel that the music is the biggest highlight of the film. I love Sister Mary Patrick, played by Kathy Najimy, and I had a huge crush on Sister Mary Robert played by Wendy Makkena. Then I found out her singing voice wasn’t her but Andrea Robinson and my crush was crushed. Her voice still gives me chills during the movie though! One of my favorites, highly recommended!

Sweet, if predictable, heart-warming diversion. Some moments ring surprisingly profound.

everything this chick dose is good -- I mean Whoopie Goldberg ! I have yet to find a bad Goldberg movie.

Whoopi was denied an Oscar nom for this role. Can you see anyone else playing her.?? I can’t. It’s such a feel good movie and she is amazing in it!

There's really not much to this, it's just a simple movie about nuns.

This classic comedy was great. Whoopi Goldberg, Maggie Smith, Wendy Makkena, Harvey Keitel, Kathy Najimy, Bill Nunn, and the rest of the cast did a great job in this movie. The plot of the movie was entertaining, humorous, and dramatic. It's about staying alive and discovering what you're really good at. If you haven't seen this movie yet, check it out sometime. It's a must see.

The great Mary Wicks always played a nun (The flying nun) or surrounded by nuns (Father Dowling), this movie had So much drama off screen but Whoopi Saved the day, the movie is fun and entertaining as you know. It was the first movie of an Affircan American to have a hit sequle too. Although personally I think that was Cleopatra Jones. Backstage Drama: Disney had an idea about a nun on the run and still on good therms with Bette Midler they offerd it too her! She in her own words "stupidly said no" but... she signed a contract for so many months and done a screen test, both parties rather than get solicitors involved desiced to let the contract die out and neither party would loose money that way, they than signed up Whoopi, and they than signed up Carrie Fisher to do some script editing (carrie was a wonderfull writer and script editor under pen names) at a party with movers and shakers Donna Douglas (beverly hillbillies fame) said she wrote a script about a nun on the run, A disney executive that sounds like a script we're working on Donna Douglas decided she was going to Sue Disney for stealing her stories and everyone who was involved remember Carrie Fisher, Bette Midler, and Whoopi Goldberg were still under contract so they all where involved in the case which was settled out of court but the judge did rule that the script had to be changed a lot. Kinda shocking Disney stuck with the movie to be honest after all the drama, and that is why a lot of the stars of the movie say "we expect it to be scrapped or go straight to video". The movie paied off and it had a hit soundtrack to top it and Disney made there money back straight away and than some, the sequle also done great. Not sure if Carrie Fisher helpled on this none

30 years later and it's still a smasher! Great family, feel good film. The plot is simple, the acting is basic and the enjoyment is everywhere.

Es una muy chistosa historia con buen desarrollo de el guion. El carisma de Whoppi vuelve a brillar.

A stone cold classic, Sister Act is equal parts hilarious, musical, and inspirational. Whoopi is a tour deforce of attitude and comedic quips, one after another. Her fish-out-of-water character is most funny to watch against the stoic and staunch Maggie Smith's mother superior (I think that's what they're called). So, if you like 90s movies, need a reason to laugh, or want to boogie and sing along with Whoopie and the goofy actress Kathy from Hocus Pocus then this movie is for you.

Sister Act review: Over 30 years old and still the best one of the two Whoopi Goldberg, Maggie Smith, Kathy Najimi, Bull Nunn, and Harvey Keitel are directed by Emile Ardolino of 'Dirty Dancing' fame Deloris Van Cartier sees her mobster boyfriend commit murder so she is relocated for her own safety She poses as a nun at a convent in California much to her dismay yet she might change the quiet lives of these sisters in many ways To make things more complicated Deloris is put in charge of the choir which needs some work for sure Slowly over time it becomes a vibrant and soulful act that affects the community gaining more love and attention from all over A funny mixture of screwball comedy and religious musical The songs are quite toe-tapping, Goldberg's performance is delightful, the nuns are a ball of energy, and the mixture of church and hiding out from danger is a funny concept itself Truly one of the late Ardolino's best Very likable actresses all around playing these nuns being quite funny Not the best writing yeah but the film is chock full of reactions and expressions that come off as realistically silly Considering the hellish production so to speak the filmmakers went through it's a miracle the film got around to being finished and successes the way it did Charming, goofy, enjoyable and silly with great tunes Just do yourself a favor and skip that atrocious sequel!
