Sleeping Dogs Reviews
Absolutely amazing!! Best movie I've seen in a long time. Mystery suspense with tons of cliff hangers and leaves you with your mouth widen open at the end! Russell Crowe....he never fails!
Cool old school romp. Not a perfect 5, but a fun Friday night watch.
Russell Crowe seems to keep on making one bad movie after another, just to convince himself that the unusual talent (that he once possesed) will one day be revived. Unfortunately, with "Sleeping Dogs" he adds yet another cinematic failure to his already sad recent portfolio. This film is almost a masterclass in how to take a vaguely interesting premise and smother it with every cliché, flat dialogue exchange, and lazy plot twist in existence. No pacing, only cardboard characters and a very boring way to tell a story. Avoid watching this!
Absolutely LOVED it!!!!!!
I found this to be a interesting concept but overall just ok as a film .
Really good, if watching at home have to pay attention. Can't say more otherwise I would ruin it. It draws you in and keeps you glue
Much better than I was expecting.
Great to see Russell Crowe back in good form doing good films. Great watch!
Too many nonsensical and unexplained situations for a very obvious end that the viewer has already guessed mid-film. Crowe does a good job, though.
Russell Crowe did a good job as the lead, but the story writer appeared to be trying to write an Agatha Christie script without any of the side issues making any sense at all. Why most of the other characters did what they did, including killing each other, had nothing tangible to do with the crime being investigated by Crowe.
I really loved this movie.Russell Crowe was at his best in this film.It was suspenseful and the actors were so good. The story was excellent and I love a good crime film filled with surprises.Absolute must see it doesn’t disappoint in my books.
Well done and it's fun to see Russell Crowe reunited with Tommy Flanagan who played Cicero in Gladiator! Unique story line around Roy's condition and treatment makes it interesting Writing and plot twists are excellent.
Russell Crow was good, but the supporting cast was terrible and the plot just was all over the place. Might be worth watching once, barely.
For a mystery it’s not very compelling even with the great cast trying their best with the mediocre material
Many details slowly coalesced during the film. There were a few dead spots, but overall well assembled, with surprise ending---and even the ending left you without 100% assurance as to which way it would go. Few films surprise me anymore as they usually follow a predictable script, but this one was cleverly done.
Russell Crowe, who has gained some weight since Gladiator, is excellent in this cleverly written murder mystery. The supporting cast were all good too; Tommy Flanagan (Sons of Anarchy), Karen Gillan (great legs btw) and Martin Csokas (I first saw him in Mark Felt, the story behind Watergate's Deep Throat) among them. Worth a late night stream.
Decent, some typical tropes, but was somewhat surprised how certain things turned out given storylines we're introduced to, some good acting & realistic plots/emotions. Overall, an enjoyable watch.
It's been a minute since I've seen a Russell Crowe film and I had a hankering for one after watching Gladiator II (Paul Mezcal is no Russell Crowe, though Denzel was awesome). So I went looking for a Russell movie and decided between this and Pope's Exorcist. Reviews for both were equally bad so I flipped a coin and got Sleeping Dogs. Really glad I did. Was totally surprised by it. The woman who played the femme fatale character was a little odd, but Russell was totally believable and awesome. Brooding and different than I've seen him ever before. He seemed really vulnerable and displayed a kind of sensitivity I can't remember seeing in a long time. Had some predictable beats, but it was moody and the twists and turns were fun. Critics were too harsh on this one, I think -- but it's also possible that the edible I ate clouds my perception.
WOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!! WHAT AN ENDING!
