Slotherhouse Reviews
If I had known that it's going to be a funny macabre film, I wouldn't have watched it on a big screen. It's not my kind of horror film. I'm not into comedy. This was fun, but ridiculous. I was in a horror movie group and this was our meetup movie. It helped passed the time inside the hot movie theatre. The AC was not on and the temperature outdoors was 95F. I guess I'm grumpy because of my overall experience. It didn't help when a cute sloth became a killer sloth. It was just not real.
You'll pretty much know if you'll like it or not based on the title alone. The first half is definitely a little slow (although it has its moments), but the second half is just crazy. I had never laughed out loud in a movie theater before, but this got several laughs from me.
Such a breath of fresh air. Absolutely wonderful experience on the big screen. A must see. A one night stand DOES NOT DO IT JUSTICE. Extend the showings!!!!
Great independent movie. Fast paced and funny.
Hilarious horror movie with a creative concept. Great writing and use of reference humor. I hope it gets released!
It’s a fun, campy, slapstick horror-comedy about a murderous sloth and a panel of sorority girls like “Mean Girls” mixed with “Cocaine Bear.” Off-kilter and has unexpectedly great humor. Like a really long SNL skit, but one of the good ones. Took me about half an hour of watching to realize that I was taking it way too serious it becomes obvious at the midpoint that the whole thing is a huge joke. If you catch yourself saying “a sloth could never do that,” you’re watching the movie wrong. Shoutout Olivia Rouyre.
Perfect for all sloth lovers. Being that it is a low budget movie, there arent many animal related horror movies being made. Especially with it not trying to be a straight up comedy. Give this one a try, you can hate on the idea, but you never be Sloth taking a selfie before killing cool.
I’m actually super disappointed, I expected this to truly be a stinker… but instead… I got a more accessible version of Thankskilling (a movie that knows it’s terrible… but the film and it’s audience are all in on the joke that the filmmakers are telling). This was probably the hardest I laughed in a theater this year… and I go every week. Because it was only playing for a night (at least at my theater) and will then probably live on streaming forever… I wish they went all out and made it R-rated (maybe if it gets a sequel???). But, I’m just happy we got a good bad movie and not another bad bad movie, like Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey.
First half lacked the sense of humor the second half had. Really found its footing in the end but it took too long to get there.
A budding cult film, really was entertaining
