Snitch Reviews

A surprisingly slick and intense thriller but one with very little staying power.

| Original Score: 3/5 | Aug 25, 2022

It's almost as if the film is trying to detail the manner in which inexperienced players inevitably lose out to both sides of the law.

| Original Score: 4/10 | Dec 4, 2020

Dwayne Johnson is clearly ready to tackle more complex cinematic fare.

| Original Score: 2.5/4.0 | Sep 23, 2020

If you can get past the awkward political misstep, the blatantness of every encounter, and scrape through the heavy-handed family drama, what you're left with is a decently tense thriller.

| Original Score: B- | Jul 9, 2020

In Snitch, that likeable lunk Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson puts his serious acting hat on. Just like you, I never knew he owned one. What's more, it doesn't seem to fit so good.

| Original Score: 2/5 | Jun 2, 2020

Trust me when I tell you that Snitch is a movie you want to see!

Upon closer inspection, Waugh's film has a lot more substance than flash, and the solid performances elevate the material beyond standard genre fodder.

| Original Score: 3/5 | Feb 26, 2019

The pieces for a competent action drama are there, but they never come together.

| Aug 30, 2018

Snitch is better than it has any reason being because of the phenomenal acting, led by Dwayne Johnson's best performance ever.

| Original Score: 3/4 | Aug 26, 2018

It takes awhile for the action sequences in Snitch to offer payoff for the building tension, but when they do, they aren't obligatory, and they carry more meaning. That may also be why they feel so much more realistic, in spite of an exploding car or two.

This frowning, mostly funless effort logs the action with bluntly defined secondary characters.

| Original Score: 2/5 | Sep 5, 2017

The latest project from stuntman-turned-director Ric Roman Waugh valiantly attempts to serve two masters and manages to come up a bit short in both genres.

| Oct 25, 2016

"Snitch" is passable thanks to a sturdy second act and a decent performance by Dwayne Johnson, but it's never captivating.

| Original Score: 2.5/5 | Apr 17, 2016

Effectively illustrates the great heights we occasionally rise to for the ones we love.

| Original Score: B | Feb 1, 2014

Snitch runs close to two hours, and it's a credit to Summit Entertainment that they didn't reduce it to 90 minutes of Mexican drug loons trying to run John's truck off the highway.

Although hardly original, this tightly paced story will keep you invested through to the end

| Original Score: 3/5 | Oct 18, 2013

A pseudo-serious hand-wringing action drama that uses social importance to disguise its unoriginality.

| Original Score: C | Jul 13, 2013

It's intense and involving from the start, even when it turns preachy.

| Original Score: 3.5/5 | Jun 27, 2013

Snitch wants to be Breaking Bad. When the camera's on Johnson, it's just bad.

| Original Score: 2/5 | Jun 22, 2013

Teeth are gritted, shaven-heads stroked, families hugged, moist-eyes blinked - but it's the sight of big things getting smashed to pieces that endures, and ultimately bores.
