Something In The Dirt Reviews
I liked the movie called Nothing way better then this. That movie has alot more comedy injected between 2 people that are going no where in their lives, without all the supernatural vibes going on.
Thought provoking and intriguing, this is not everyones cup of tea. If you have ever wondered how or why people places or things appear in your life you may want to gander this filmography.
The whole thing was pretty pointless, but maybe that was the point. Not a very sharp point though, I'm afraid.
Like an homemade acid trip, like all Justin and Aaron's movies, only this one was bad. I know it means something deeper, but it's poorly done.
What a great end Love it
This would have been a brilliant movie if it were 1 hour shorter. The premise, format, interactions and ending are excellent, but the middle ground is just painfully and unnecessarily long.
I kept watching in the hope that there would be some kind of character or plot development, but to no avail. There are no truths or arguments being argued or analyzed. It's just blather with occasional suspenseful sound effects.
Unbearably boring. I couldn't make it all the way through.
The biggest problem with ‘Something in the Dirt' is it is probably 20 minutes too long…just seemed to drag on. That said, intriguing plot, an abundance of interesting dialogue and enough going on to keep you interested if you can last the distance. Certainly not these guys' best work, so if you are not in the mood to be patient and give it a chance, recommend you give it a miss…otherwise I expect you will be horribly disappointed.
To be very honest... I gave it 5 stars bc it boggles my mind how many ppl came onto RT and made an account just to give this movie 1 star. I'd give it a 4 otherwise. Gotta remember... this was quite literally made by 3 people. In an apartment. During a pandemic. And even with very little funding, they created something that makes you scratch your head and go... wtf did I just watch?? And that'd exactly what Benson & Moorhead do best.
Kind of a slow burn but some interesting lore and perspective. Wish there was more of a climax.
Dialogue felt like it was being pried out of dried paint can. Very stilted & unrealistic. Nice that they were both broke but ended up with thousands of dollars worth of camera gear especially those $4,000 night goggles. Also unrealistic reactions to what was happening. The idea with a film like this that has "everyman" characters is to have them respond like the average person would & no one would respond like they did.
Don't waste your time. Looks like something twp high college students filmed in their dorm with their parents vintage VHS camcorders. And not in the hood way.
So basically Nothing is in the Dirt. I don't know if the point of this film is to not have a point but if that's where they're going then I guess they did a good job because I'm just out of my head.
Intelligent on a budget.
Just absolute crap on every level. I want my two hours back.
nice tension. funny. clever cut
The filmmaking team of Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead are back and despite loving all of their previous work, this wasn't as fun. The journey of this film is enjoyable until it isn't based on the ending being ambiguous. Why did I watch this and what did it mean? I don't miss a Benson/Moorhead film, however this movie has no purpose and spins its wheels more often than not. Conceived during the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, perhaps Benson (who wrote this solo) was on quite a bit of hallucinogens. The film within the film doesn't really work here. Even for die-hard fans of either the genre or the duo your mileage is going to vary based on the ending. Final Score: 5/10
A good stream of consciousness film. Kept me intrigued the whole time. Yes, the ending leaves you with questions. The whole film had me questioning the whole time, yet that's what kept me intrigued to watch till the end. satisfied with the whole experience.
