Not really a sonic movie
Definitely a fun family friendly film. The soundtrack is amazing, the visuals are amazing, and the characters are very well written. The reason why the movie isn't ranked higher is because the plot is pretty basic. It's another road trip movie with a 2010's feel to it. I greatly recommend this one.
Okay, so... i'm gonna be honest, this movie is litteraly just another road trip movie but with sonic the hedgehog. but that does not mean that is bad, far from it. this movie isn't all that good, but I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it. Go ahead and give this a watch. definitely worth a watch or two.

Es una película decente y una adaptación buena de la franquicia y videojuego original, sus escenas con Sonic son divertidas y con el Dr.Eggman aún más, su amistad con Tom se siente natural y aunque es una trama muy repetida funciona para ser la primer película.
When producing a movie for a legacy, thirty-year-old console game, its wise to market it to kids! That way, the franchise remains juvenile, yet accessible to its now adult, original gamers. This smart decision by Paramount drew worldwide attention to this release, despite its former, flailing brand name (the Sonic franchise had a decade long series of delays and poor sequels). Since this movie’s target audience is the early childhood demographic, voice overs are silly and overtly pronounced, physical behavior is slowed and salient and the story is warm and elementary. The writing is wordy and directed at parents. The interrace couple and loser male characters play into the politics of modern Hollywood. Jim Carrey is an ideal casting for this film, given his antics and extravagance. Sadly, this generation of Hollywood fired all its English majors in lieu of radical activists, and the poorly managed plot and dialogue prove it. Confounded by its alien protagonist, the half-wits in the writer’s room are hard pressed to make good use of screen time: Sonic spins its wheels thru tedious backstory and dreary sidelining. The script is excessive and comic moments fail to be funny. Despite these issues, some Hollywood ventures are simply too big to fail. Movies like 2011’s The Smurfs and 2015’s The Force Awakens have too large a fanbase to ever misfire. Due to its worldwide recognition and stellar product placement, Sonic the Hedgehog was a worldwide success (earning back three times its budget)! Whether you love the franchise, have kids or simply want a goofy distraction, Sonic the Hedgehog reminds us of the joy and excitement (and tiresome trouble) that the mischievous and benevolent little ones in our lives bring us. Who knows? One might be secretly watching you right now….
This film... Is pretty decent not alot of bad. Not alot of good either. It's a mixed bag. There will be times where we have scenes of Sonic Cringily flossing. But then they will be followed up with scenes of Jim carry as Robotnik being his amazing Jim Carey self. It's a real mixed bag of quality. The story of this film is... The story is pretty basic and Cookie cutter, but I believe it still brings a certain uniqueness to it that allows it to stand out from the rest. I'm pretty sure the story of this film is the way it is. That being safe. So that they could guarantee a franchise could be able to spawn from it. And we'd eventually get the films we've really wanted. Spoiler talk... Honestly not much to spoil its really all there in just the trailers alone. Jim Carrey is great. His scene at the end in the credits teasing Robotniks full transformation taking effect was pretty cool.
It was incredibly entertaining, and the animation for Sonic was incredible. Jim Carrey stole the show as Robotnik, and every scene he had was absolutely hilarious. I definitely recommend it!
Watched it on Netflix with my dad and enjoyed it. The explosions were fun to watch.
For the opening, I didn't like that I got interrupted and it happened again at the climax where I got interrupted again. 1 star
Worth a Watch, very enjoyable and the sequel to. I have put the third one on my watch list.

Solid start to an amazing franchise
I mean its alrt. its nothing special, just a typical road trip movie with a popular videogame character. However Jim carry is great and so are some of the story beats. And despite the oversaturation of a formula like this its an enjoyable watch
Better than I anticipated. The product advertisements were so heavy handed and obvious it was a bit hard to watch at times. Carrey was a star, of course. Meh.
I realised that I haven't posted reviews for the first two Sonic movies, so now's as good a time as any. This was an amazing start to the series and just a fun movie. The plot is simple: Sonic and his newfound friend, Tom, have to go to Chicago to get some rings. It's a road trip movie essentially, which sounds like it wouldn't fit Sonic and yet it does. This is basically the first part in Sonic's origin story trilogy: the first 3 films. I'll talk about it more in my Sonic 2 review. But it's done well and is quite a fun time. Jim Carrey as Eggman also brings this movie up a lot. He's eccentric, smart and overall entertaining. His literal first line is asserting himself as a leader. It's Jim Carrey, so it's unsurprising how good he is, but it's great to see. Lee Majdoub as Agent Stone is also great and has amazing chemistry with Carrey. They're overall entertaining villains. Overall, a fun start to the Sonic movies. But the best is yet to come. Well, technically it already has, my Sonic 3 review came out ages ago, but still.
