It's the perfect musical for the Youtube Generation.

This film celebrates human creativity and encourages pushing the boundaries to make cutting edge art a reality. The quirkiness of the film might turn off some viewers, but I found it fascinating.

Sound of Noise is outside the box, original and inventive. It's also hilarious, and extremely entertaining. The film is one of SFIFF's highlights.

If you're into being entertained by something weird, this inane and incoherent pic gives you weird.

I've seen a lot of detective stories, but never one about a detective trying to track down a bunch of performance artists who are playing illegal music.

The premise is so delightfully strange, it almost sounds like an Etgar Keret short story, or maybe even a playful exercise by Gabriel García Márquez.

The film's joke is kind of one-note, although it maintains an exhilarating beat throughout. If Sound of Noise is the rhythm of the new city symphony, play on.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Mar 23, 2012
A buoyant comedy that never hits a wrong note.

The movie is a cacophony of sound, fury, silence, ingenuity and inspiration, everything revolving around a scenario that's a silly as it is absurd.
| Original Score: 3.5/4 | Mar 17, 2012
A high-concept, high-energy lark.

While this rollicking comedy about musical terrorists cleverly satirizes movie conventions of cops and capers, the creative crimes look and sound wonderfully unique.

"Sound of Noise" is a dry treat - a solid, self-aware cult pleasure.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Mar 8, 2012
Filmmakers Ola Simonsson and Johannes Stjärne Nilsson and their engaging cast pull off the feat with no strain and a surprising amount of heart.
| Original Score: 4/5 | Mar 8, 2012
"Sound of Noise" is like no heist movie you've ever seen; these bandits want only to transform a city into a canvas for their special brand of aural art.

The energy flags whenever the vandals are at rest, and a romantic subplot feels like an afterthought. But Nilsson is a delight, and the filmmakers' own creativity transforms shock into awe.

Part quirky comedy, part existential mystery, part flash-mob musical.
| Original Score: A- | Mar 8, 2012
Sound of Noise provides plenty of excitement and rumble, executed with a considerable screen flair that manages oddity and a crooked sense of liberation with stunning flexibility.

Basically Stomp recast as a quirky Swedish comedy, Sound of Noise gets some preliminary mileage out of a gonzo-absurdist premise...
| Original Score: 3/5 | Mar 6, 2012
Quickly loses its novelty and becomes about as bold as a Swedish production of Stomp.
