Space Sweepers Reviews
One of the greatest sci fi movies i have seen in a long, long time. Great story, great action, great effects great directing. What more is there to say?
Great Sci-fiction movie.
I loved it, best Korean movie ever. They should produce more of this type of movie genre ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Watched this back in 2021 when it came out! Has been stuck in my mind ever since, such a great movie! The fantasy, the sci-fi, the comfort, it's really awesome!
A wonderfully well written action packed space story that never has a dull moment and tugs at the heart strings all at once. Song Joong-ki is incredible as always, as is Richard Armitage and their fellow cast mates.
The first minutes were interesting, a few more minutes bad, and then, strangely enough, quite an exciting film, I recommend it for sci-fi lovers
A sweet and sour korean sci fi film exploring the power of consortiums. Love the character design and evolution during the movie. Had more fun watching this than the entire last star wars trilogy. This movie has a taste of Cowboy Bebop (even tho the OST is far inferior ^^). Go watch it
Heartwarming movie. Love all actors and their performances.
Well at least Korea is still capable of making a great movie. Hollywood take note, this is how you write likeable characters and a plot people get invested in. Ten out of ten, we'll played
How 1 man blames the world for how hard he had it, instead of using it for good he wants to destroy it. Great movie, good cast, love the ending.
The visuals can be too shakey and cluttered at times, and frustrating plot holes and cliches keep it from classic status, but the passion put in for making a fun and eventually heart-felt space-western is seen within its wonderful cast.
It is a glorious space opera following the tradition of Star Wars where a few courageous men & women fight to save a child, themselves and Earth itself. The effects are amazing and I can't believe they did all that with a mere twenty eight million dollars. It hails back to Firefly with a lived-in world and people speaking different languages and characters who are shades of grey. Except for Richard Armitage who turns in a scary performance as the bad guy. I gave it 4 stars because it kept me glued to my chair for the full movie - and what more can you ask?
Excellent South Korean movie. I really enjoyed it. Great sci fi movie, with lots of action, comedy, and with great special effects.
A VFX extravaganza, a FUTURE CULT CLASSIC. This belongs with Gods of Egypt, Valerian and the City of 1000 Planets, and Jupiter Rising, all resonant with 1990s blockbusters, all made around the same time, none of them found a large audience (Marvel studios had already taken over). As other critics note, it has problems: - It's stuffed full with familiar sci-fi tropes, one after another. The tropes have little narrative connection; they fit together only minimally. - The male lead is woefully mis-cast (the great female lead fills this void somewha), - The subplot of the impressive villain doesn't fit with the main narrative. Against these deficits, Space Sweepers has these assets: - CGI and VFX are AAA, - The film has CGI in almost every scene. Third act has a 20-minute, totally CGI space battle. Seamless digital set extensions. One main 100% digital character executed flawlessly. VFX frequently rises to poetic imagery. These VFX probably took two to three years in post to accomplish and polish to this high a degree, an unusual investment given the slight script. - To-die-for AAA set designs and dressing. Engine rooms sets make excellent use of of a partal steam-punk aesthetic, - Despite an almost complete lack of narrative cohesion, the acting is 100% committed. Looks like morale was high on set. For all this reasons Space Sweepers is likely to become a cult classic, especially for those taking drugs before viewing (also for all fans of beautiful, competent VFX). It has a consistent, unintentional hallucinogenic quality.
Idea is nice and funny, visuals are quite well done too. But half way the movie I had to quit. I was giving it the benefit of the doubt but the humor is just getting too childish.
Korea is really making a name for itself with these new line of movies. Great cinematography, great story telling, great acting, great movie. Hollywood should be taking notes
Excellent movie. First time I saw an amazing Korean movie. I don't understand why they haven't released more episodes.
A fun and thrilling adventure on an intergalactic scale which manages to be humorous and heartfelt amongst all the action and special effects. The story is relatively straightforward, but on a grand scale with a fantastic intergalactic setting complemented by the impressive special effects and CGI. The quirky crew of kick-ass misfits have good chemistry and the egotistical villain allows for a simple but effective good vs evil dynamic. The mix of languages is a bit odd, but adds to the realism in its own way, and the action's a bit ropey at times. The pacing could have been better and it gets ridiculous at the end, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Visually stunning, but the story was a little dull.
