Mostly allstar cast, this movie is the first, and I'm happy about it. From the action sequences, to the comedy to the romance. Great job on this one.

During one of the darkest era of Comic Book movie history this one tries to hard and not hard enough which the ending result has an terrible script, bland acting and awful CGI

“Spawn” is a blast if you’re into the comics, even if it's a massively gore-lite version. The special effects are wild (though the cgi was iffy even for the time), and Michael Jai White nails it as Spawn. John Leguizamo is creepy and hilarious as Clown. It’s dark, edgy, and the soundtrack rocks. Definitely worth a watch for any fan! Very much a 90's comic book movie.

It is a nice adaptation of the comics and is underrated

Based upon Todd McFarlene's superhero comic, Spawn seemingly ended up being a rather dull film that had been comprised with a rather boring plot, uninteresting characters that had little or no signs of development, poor performances and horrendous visual effects.

Before we had the MCU and other big budget super hero movies we had 1997's 'Spawn'. SYNOPSIS: 'An elite mercenary is killed, but comes back from Hell as a reluctant soldier of the Devil.' What a glorious mess this film is. The good bits are fantastic whilst the below par bits are bloody atrocious. But I love this film nonetheless. As a visual experience, 'Spawn' is unforgettable. For better or worse The practical effects are amazing whilst some of the CGI borders on a PS1 cut scene. Oh it's that bad. And the story, well the less we say about it the better. Creator Todd McFarlane has long wanted to remake this movie in modern times and I do question what the delay is. This IP would look amazing in 2024. It's a bad film with a smattering of exceptional scenes and incredible practical effects. A guilty pleasure of mine. 7/10

This was never a b movie I have watch many movies from 1997 I know why this was given a b rating because of people now days really understand what it took to write and produce a movie back than and also take into consideration this movie was produced by New line Cinema those people there run a great studio to so to the people the criticize this movie u need to first understand what is take to make a great movie like this and also this film was not produce for HD or 4k res why do you first watch it on a standard box tv and and a vhs copy maybe you would understand older movies a lot better and think about your rating you give them

Considering it was made in 97 it was actually good graphics for the time. Up too maybe bale batman or ironman this was probably the best comic book movie.

Spawn, as a character, is everything that was 1990's comic books, rolled into one badass superhero. In the comics, that works very well, with his popularity still reigning today. In his big screen debut, it did not work at all. Starting off, it showcases some of the worst visual effects put to screen, and just when you think it can't look any worse, it hits rock bottom again and again. The dialogue feels like it has been ground on a cheese grater and the actors aren't able to do much with the bland and basic script they're given. With only a couple jokes landing, there are few other moments that help pull you through to the end of this train wreck of a film. I can typically find enjoyment in some of the lesser quality films, but I found myself watching the clock, counting down the minutes until this was over. There is no good reason to watch this film, spend your time doing anything else.

Fan of the comic, this movie was Ok. The special effects are a disaster.

As a fan of the comics it was okay, I did like the actors for each character but the film was incredibly fast pace. Almost feeling like a speed run to get to the ending and the CG didn't age well. Besides all that the acting was good as well as the makeup but that is about the only positives. Overall I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, fans of the comics or not will probably not enjoy this film.
