Spectre Reviews

Mar 5, 2025

A perfect movie for little boys and adults of comparable mental capacity. Just the opening scene was enough to realize that I can spend my time better.

Yet again a mid james bond movie

There is a nice “Day of the Dead” scene at the beginning. Daniel Craig and Lea Seydoux did a great job. Blofeld is in this one. They go to Mexico and Rome which was awesome. Lots of explosions.

That opening sequence is unmatched, the ski-slope scene pure Bond, and the movie never falters. My Craig-era- hell, my ultimate go-to Bond movie.

If skyfall is a 10/10, Spectre is a solid 9.

I'm a Bond fan. And Craig is the definite 007. This film was a disappointment though and a real step down from Skyfall. It tries hard to retrospectively draw together the plots of previous films but it fails and ends up looking rushed and directionless. The casting was great (Dave Batista, Ben Whitshaw, Ralph Fiennes and Naomi Harris were all excellent). The suits, the cars and the usual iconic action sequences were all in play and looking gorgeous. But the overall effect was remarkably ho-hum. Really needed a better plot. Pity.

Spectre for me, ranks as the third best Daniel Craig Bond film behind Casino Royale and Skyfall. Like a lot of Bond films, it is long but Craig is still very switched on and in the zone, as it were. There seems to be a bit of winking at the films of that other English Bond actor Roger Moore but whether this was a writing choice or the director Sam Mendes, is not entirely clear. The opening sequence features a masked Bond at a Day of the Dead festival in Mexico (touches of Live And Let Die) before he is swiftly called into action.

The worst of the Daniel Craig 007 films, Spectre retroactively makes his past three films lesser due to a poorly written villain and just a bad script overall. Thankfully, Craig is still a joy to watch and Lea Seydoux a great addition.

This is the point where the Craig-era films got their mojo back.

A superb photography, and a quality direction. However the movie tracks towards some more classic tropes which are good, but look pale in comparison to Skyfall.

Little long, and a little bland compared to other entries in the franchise, but still a fun dose of entertainment.

It is the most average james bond movie and it suffers from being compared to the other movies in daniel craigs bond movie line up. You will not go wrong with watching this movie, it is never terrible or bad. The acting is great, the villain works, the character development works but the plot is not memorable. When you have Casino royale and Skyfall under your belt it is unfair but the comparison happens.

A worthy follow-up to its predecessor, this installment sees Bond unnerved by the villain for the first time, adding an element never seen before in the franchise. The stakes become increasingly personal for 007, resulting in another slick, globe-trotting adventure.

As someone who loves to watch Spy thriller movie, this movie is definitely a treat. But you may not really enjoy it as much as you could have because plot is not thorough, many things happen really quick making no sense.

As a bond film, "Spectre" doesn't exactly live up to the likes of "Skyfall". As an action film however, it arguably checks all of the boxes.

Jul 6, 2024

The most satisfying Bond film since 1967, also somewhat validating the previous three Craig films.

They really need to invest more in ideas and also tell Daniel Craig that he agreed to play Bond so damned well pull up your sleeves and convince people. At the time I was already tired of his hot/cold nature towards the franchise. If you do not care for it, pass it to someone who does.

4.2/10 horrible film.

Jun 2, 2024

Not bad, but definitely could've been better. Main villain was such a let down though.

The action sequences are fine, but everything else in this movie is a mess. The big reveal was completely inconsequential to the plot and almost felt like it was just thrown in at the last minute. The love interest somehow falls head over heels in love with Bond despite barely interacting with him throughout the movie. I felt like I was watching a parody film.
