It’s never too late to watch my first Kutcher movie. In my case months before turning 70. Another proof that one needs to form his own opinion. Now that tons of stuff is available free on the internet, one can start watching something that is remotely interesting and if it proves a dud switch to something else. The Guardian critic from UK found the movie good contrary to many of his colleagues who came and left with their preconceived notions. Of note that the yuppie fantasy of Pretty Woman has a 64% approval rate and the much more realistic proposition here 22%. It is quite a bold move for Kutcher who was in a high profile relationship with an older woman to play a boy toy here. His acting is excellent. All the situations could exist in real life. The late Anne Heche is one of the recipients of his attentions and is convincing as the older professional woman who seeks a younger warm body in her bed and is willing to provide a fair compensation. Kutcher’s character is completely irresponsible and seems to believe that with his good looks no decency dealing with other humans is required. Then, unexpectedly professes deep love for the toy girl he meets as he moves in different environments. Two unemployed young people skillful in providing sexual services in exchange for rewards, provide the basis for a solid marriage. As is often the case , the woman is more realistic. Besides, she is not exactly single! The movie is expertly photographed, well acted and offers solid entertainment.
Margarita Levieva steals the show! She is great.
An incredibly predictable movie, with the least satisfy ending possible. Extremely disappointing, definitely not with your time.
I really didn't think it was a terrible movie like everybody else. The message to not rely on other people to make it in this world is the best part of the whole movie.
The idea is good, but there's no humor at all and the actors have the same expression from the beginning to the end. The end of the film is very disappointing: should it be a comedy or a tragedy?
If I didn’t hate the beginning portion of the movie so much this could have been rather good 2.5
I watched all of this, mostly because I liked seeing how the other half can live. I quite liked it too.
Just awful. Terrible, poorly acted and contrived film.
"You're nothing but six inches and a pretty face; and you're gonna have to suffer like everybody else," is the summation of the movie. The second half of the movie is much stronger than the first because it's not until then that Nikki's character feels relatable. The concept of the film is an interesting one to explore, but it could have been etched out better. This wasn't terrible for a one-time viewing, though.
Lame; feel bad for the awesome, beautiful layer he played. That guy is a pleb, leach boy - +im jealous of all that pipe he's layin'
Unfortunate. At least the ending was realistic - but all the excessive screwing with Heche led you to think there might be some redemption later with Kutcher. But naw...
Starts out like entourage with a Ashton Kutcher scaling on rich woman, then gets a little more sentimental. I think it’s this divide in tone that splits the audience. For an under the radar movie I give it a recommendation. On Netflix streaming
Though at first it's so vapid and LA I could hardly back the main character through his streaming sexist chauvinism, it left me impressed with its honesty to the reality of the gamble this guy takes. Kinda cool.
Worth watching if you're a woman who has the hots for Ashton Kutcher as he spends most of the movie lounging about in exotic locations while topless. His character is 100% unlikable, though; as is his love-interest -- the stony faced Margarita Levieva. Great shots of LA just about make this weary "life of a playa" tale bearable.
