Spy Kids Reviews
The main girl looks like my cousin, but this was boring
What on earth is this? Its weird, yes, but not in a good way. Don't watch. I don't know WHAT the critics are thinking, but please, don't force any children to watch this.
*"Spy Kids"* is a whirlwind of colorful chaos that’s exactly what you'd expect from a family-friendly adventure. The young cast delivers stellar performances, selling the absurdity with gusto. The story is imaginative, fitting for a film aimed at younger audiences, though the CGI has not aged gracefully—what looked cutting-edge in 2001 now feels charmingly retro. Alan Cumming steals the show as the flamboyant, eccentric villain, providing memorable moments with his over-the-top antics. While the film revels in its ridiculousness, it’s all part of its charm, making it a suitable choice for a family movie night. The absurdity and fun are enough to make it a nostalgic trip down memory lane, even if it doesn't quite hold up as well as its stars might like. Overall, it’s a decent watch for a good dose of family-friendly escapism.
My biggest question is "why all the love from critics?" Yet, the movie fell short of a passing grade with audiences. My theory is the feeling of movie-goers pre 9/11 was much more in tune with the film. Watch it after 9/11, which is when a lot of people came along to do their own critiques, and Spy Kids, like Americans, lost their innocence. I watched it before 9/11 and don't remember disliking it. I didn't dislike it this time, but it missed the mark for me -- and, evidently, tens of thousands of other movie-watchers.
Where the spy gadgets are more believable than the storyline. It's like Mission: Implausible for the elementary school set. Get ready for a wild ride of kids outsmarting adults while adults out-acting the kids.
Its a good movie... A lot of the scenes were over the top and the kids spy vibe is a bit weird, but I think that this is a great kids movie. If you're an adult reading this then sure, some of the parts you might find a bit stupid, but i don't see why audiences didn't like it more.
Sleeping is way better
It's alright, I guess.
O FILME É BOM POR QUE ELE ENTREGA SUA PROPOSTA , SPY KIDS (CRIANÇAS ESPIAS) , O FILME PRESTA ATENÇAO NOS MINIMOS DETALHES , OQUE É OTIMO , MAS TEM SEUS DEFEITOS , MAS O FILME É MUITO BOM .
Spy Kids is a movie of all time.
Good plot, fun, cringe, cgi hell = 5/10
In the realm of family-friendly cinema, "Spy Kids" (2001) stands as a timeless gem that transcends generations, offering a delightful blend of imagination, humor, and heart. Directed by Robert Rodriguez, this film not only captivates the young at heart but also proves to be an exhilarating ride for audiences of all ages. The narrative revolves around the Cortez family, thrust into the unexpected world of espionage when parents Gregorio and Ingrid Cortez, played by Antonio Banderas and Carla Gugino, are captured by the sinister Fegan Floop. It falls upon their resourceful and spirited children, Carmen and Juni, portrayed by Alexa PenaVega and Daryl Sabara, to embark on a daring mission to save their parents and uncover the truth behind Floop's malevolent plans. What makes "Spy Kids" a standout in the family film genre is its ability to seamlessly weave together elements of action, comedy, and heartfelt moments. The film's inventive gadgets, courtesy of the quirky inventor Uncle Machete (Danny Trejo), add a whimsical touch that sparks the imagination of young viewers while keeping adults entertained with clever nods to spy genre conventions. The performances of the young leads, Alexa PenaVega and Daryl Sabara, are commendable, bringing to life characters that resonate with authenticity and charm. The sibling dynamic between Carmen and Juni is at the heart of the film, and their journey from bickering siblings to a united spy team is both endearing and relatable. Antonio Banderas and Carla Gugino bring a dash of charisma to the film, infusing the parental figures with warmth and humor. Alan Cumming's portrayal of the eccentric Fegan Floop adds a layer of comedic villainy that strikes the right balance between amusing and menacing. Visually, Rodriguez's direction shines, creating a vibrant and imaginative world that feels like a comic book come to life. The action sequences are choreographed with a flair that keeps the energy high, and the colorful set designs contribute to the film's overall visual appeal. The film's underlying message of family, resourcefulness, and the power of imagination adds a layer of depth that resonates beyond the screen. "Spy Kids" proves that, even in the world of espionage and gadgets, the strongest weapon is the bond of family. In conclusion, "Spy Kids" is a cinematic adventure that continues to captivate audiences with its inventive storytelling, engaging characters, and universal themes. Whether you're a child swept up in the excitement of spy missions or an adult reminiscing about the magic of childhood, "Spy Kids" remains a testament to the enduring appeal of family-friendly cinema done right.
Masterpiece of a movie. The second one sucks the Funky Monkey's nuts. Best scene in cinematic history was the scene with all little gorls and boys.
Es buena es genial y guión bueno pero los efectos son decentes y los hermanos son carismáticos esta increíble y otros personajes son buenos para mi la mejor de la franquicia es 9.3 de 10
This movie is extremely cringey and creepy. Kinda outdated too.
The movie can get slow in parts. The acting is horrible. This is a cheap movie that tries to hard
Best childhood movie ever your kids will enjoy it too
My favorite part was when the kids were spying. ENOUGH SAID!
