Stephen King's 'The Langoliers' Reviews

Apr 10, 2025

Poor script, awful acting and crumby storyline. You might want to fast-forward to the final ten minutes and check out the embarrassing pacman special effects. Then you'll appreciate it ain't worth the wait. This student quality film has no redeeming features.

I loved this movie. Perhaps it's because of the personal context - watching it in bed with my lady friend who I adore - but I don't think that's all it is, as I have no problem turning off anything that is junk while in the same situation. (For example, I found "Tommyknockers" to be absurd and couldn't get thru half of it). This movie however, was great. I have even watched it over again a few times. The characters are all very likeable (except for the one yor supposed to hate (even he you feel sympathy for - which is a sign of the more-empathetic times, I believe); the actors, aside from the pilot who is somewhat of a movie star, are all what you would call B-rated, but they did such a good job and are such an excellent piece of that period in time and of the genre that is now sadly extinct - the 온라인카지노추천 mini-series. It is a film that earnestly attempts to replicate a short book that takes on a fun/eerie topic (very Twilight Zone-y topic indeed), and in my opinion it absolutely succeeds in doing its job. Yes the FX are not good, and yes the monsters are utterly absurd - but they are based on a child's imagination - they are just as absurd and viscerally real AS a child's imaginary monster SHOULD be. I actually really really liked that the monsters which the movie built up for so long wound up being real, not just hypothetical/metaphorical. .... At any rate, I absolutely loved this movie and as far as I'm concerned it is "90's gold" (not as pure and valuable as "80's gold," of course.

Lots of promise in this one. It just doesn't really get developed properly.

stephen king wrote some real garbage and this is right at the bottom of the barrel, plus the acting is terrible, the whole film is just awful, watching adverts is better, at least they are not to long,

Quite a few of these classic ABC Stephen King made-for-온라인카지노추천 specials have horrible dialogue and overly dramatic music, yet this one has held up surprisingly well. I remember how scared I was when I first watched this movie. It stuck with me years. Now, as I watch it, I'm fascinated more than anything. Most people remember the IT special, with Tim Curry, or maybe even The Stand, but few can say the same.

If reliving 90s 온라인카지노추천 mini/series is your thing...you may enjoy some of the characters

What an odd movie. And I oddly really enjoyed it. The effects are bad but its so funny to watch. The overall storyline is pretty good, although its a bit drawn out. Overall I would rewatch it.

Love the book and love how close the miniseries is to the book

It often slides into unintended comedy when it isn't it is slow and unpleasant.

When the five senses have become useless, When the logic is different, Only the innermost remains... But is this one good or bad?

It was incredibly faithful to the book but the overall pace and length was a drag. The little girl was obnoxious because of her voice.

The original liminal spaces movie before liminal spaces was a well-known concept. I love the midday tele-movie vibes of The Langoliers. It may not be quality viewing for everyone, but if nothing else, it definitely captures a 90s nostalgia of melodramatic writing and acting which carries a certain type of fun and corny charm. As slowly paced out as the 3 hours may be, I'd argue that the cause and effect momentum from scene to scene is strong enough to pull it through. Low budget CGI, flat characters, and a tonne of over-explained assumed logic to justify the action of the characters to push the plot forward is hilarious and unintentionally entertaining. I revisit this every few years and it's always an easy and enjoyable watch.

One of my all-time favorite movie, consider it a piece of genius work. Absolutely absorbing plot, and all actors play beyond limits, even a little girl. Bronson PInchot! and his father... All other characters are most smart, noble, effective and adorable as a team. Rewatch it every once in a while and enjoy it so intensely that nearly fall off the chair.

I don't care what anyone says. This is hands down the best Steven King based movie there is. Yeah, the special effects have not aged well,… but they kind of lend to making it even more uncanny and disturbing. It's the story that really shines here, and an excellent cast, no less. You can definitely do worse, if you're into nightmare inducing cosmic horror.

I 100% do not care what other people think of this film. Bronson Pinchot is a fucking treasure and a force to be reckoned with in this made for 온라인카지노추천 movie. I have watched this many, many times and I enjoy it every time. I want to punch blind Dinah right in her sunglasses. "SCARING THE LITTLE GIRL?!" Such a rollicking good time with a perfect cast from Brian's matter-of-fact hero to Nick's British badass caricature to that pompous Bob Jenkins and his goof-nerd sidekick Albert. But let's talk about the real talent here. Mr. Toomey is one of the most underrated villains of all time. He's bat shit crazy and Pinchot goes balls to the wall with his portrayal, no fucking holds barred. He plays opposite that pain in the ass Dinah perfectly. For every bit of Kate Maberly's inspired acting that makes you want feed her feet first to a Langolier, Pinchot responds with clammy-skinned, wild-eyed embodiment of insanity, just fucking screaming and stabbing and ranting. Anyone who doesn't see the brilliance of this movie (and the tale itself; it's an almost word for word, scene for scene match to the actual short story) is an unimaginative bastard who places more importance on special effects than storytelling. Who cares if the Langoliers look like they were made in MS Paint?! They're still going to fucking eat you, Craigy-weggy! Anyone giving this masterpiece a negative rating is LYING DOWN ON THE JOB and not part of THE BIG PICTURE!

This movie along with The Dead Zone are the best screenplay adaptations of Stephen King stories I've seen. This film somehow manages to convey the creepiness of King's written novella (Four Past Midnight), and does it on a shoestring budget. Impressive.

Personally one of my favourite King's adaptations. Sure, all special visual effects are terrible, but the story is great, and well acted. It's the old good vs evil plot with the settings deep into the twilight zone

Made for 온라인카지노추천, it's premise is fun to consider. It's not for shoot 'em up action fans, but it's a good story.
