Stir of Echoes Reviews
This movie is still just as effective and creepy as it was when it came out over 25 years ago. It is perhaps the best Kevin Bacon-led horror we have gotten thus far.

Stir of Echoes is an effective thriller that plays in the realm of supernatural horror. The script here is solid and filled with tense sequences that the direction brings to the screen beautifully to create a creepy atmosphere from fairly early on ...

David Koepp's Stir of Echoes adaptation not only remains a gripping and chilling mystery, but also still one of Kevin Bacon's best performances.

By today's standards the mystery itself isn't all that perplexing, but despite its predictable nature the film remains a masterclass in entertainment.

Stir of Echoes is not scary in the traditional sense of the word, but it is haunting.

By no means does it trivialize its subjects of sexual assault, murder, guilt, and cover-ups. But it keeps in mind that it's a movie first and foremost, and its job is to entertain.

Easily one of Bacon's best roles and a film that grabs your attention.

The skillful shock cuts will make you jump out of your skin, but it's the digital visualisation of the ghostly Samantha which really makes the flesh crawl.

I did receive a few chills and some kicks from it.

It's nice to see he relied on more than heavy-handed filmmaking and a twist ending. I just hope audiences go for a supernatural thriller that's a little messier and doesn't feel the need to claw at their heart for two hours.

The cast is uniformly good, with Bacon giving the strongest performance as blue-collar Tom.

Bacon's performance is what makes it more than just another dead-person-walking-the-earth story. Bacon is truly a man possessed.

“Stir of Echoes” isn’t complex, nor is it shallow, it’s a delightful in-between.
