Storm Boy Reviews
it's so emotional everyone like, cried. I love it
This is a nice, interesting family friendly drama film set in Australia. I liked the cinematography and the musical score, plus the little boy's acting was very good.
What Was Most Enjoyable, Was It Paid Homage To The Previous Film Whilst Building A New Story Layer. This Could Possibly Not Need To Be Made, But It's A Nice Touch With Some Aboriginal Homage & It's Environmental Twist. It Holds Functional Value, But Not Much Emotional Punch, Like The Original.
A remake with Geoffrey Rush? Why on earth? Who are the bob heads making these choices no one needs to see a movie they have seen 35 times again.
A film for everyone A visually stunning Australian film that has worldwide appeal for people of ALL ages. The themes about family, friendship, love, loss and loneliness are universal and rounded out with a message of hope for a better future. This is a throughly enjoyable and emotional "retelling" of Colin Thiele's book of the same name which has been in print for over 55 years. This is not a remake - this is a retelling and should not be compared to the 1976 version. This film stands on its on merit, it is beautifully shot and superbly acted. It's a remarkable film that will stay with you forever.
Очень душевный и добрый фильм с хорошим посылом. Актерская игра хорошая, пейсажи красивые, музыка успокаивающая. Цепляет за душу
I think this is a heartwarming movie that contains a very powerful message. I absolutely loved this movie.
The titular Michael of the classic Colin Theale novella and 1976 film is not just grown up but now retired. As he is forced to remember his childhood in the South Australian Coorong and how he raised orphaned pelican Mr Percival. The bookending adds a unnecessary layer to the story, which in and of itself is still as wonderful as ever. Indeed, the flashback scenes that represent its telling induce all sorts of audience emotions, not just the inevitable tears. This is thanks mostly to a spectacular performance from Finn Little as the young Michael, making it worth a look, not just for nostalgic value.
Look, it's an Australian classic, and it deserved a new version. This retelling does a great job of positioning the original story, of the correct time, as a piece of personal mythology and ecological learning. It felt a bit like to took the tale of Mr Percival, Mr Ponder and Mr Proud as an eco-dreamtime story.
Another beautiful film adaption of a wonderful Australian Story! The cold and wet cinematography is lovely to watch as well.
A beautiful film based on the Australian literature classic. Some lovely Aussie scenery combined with sweet performances namely from Jai Courtney.
I watched Storm Boy this afternoon and loved it a lot! This is an almost perfect family film via Australia. It was very touching and I appreciated the positive messages. Everything about it was understated in a good way and very well crafted. I was the only one in the auditorium. Well, that's not entirely true. There was one couple who literally walked out five minutes into it - crazy fools. It is sad to me that a fine film like this struggles to reach an audience these days when Captain Marvel (and others like it) are sold out "events" and wind up grossing a billion dollars. Sign of the times I guess. Highest recommendation but don't delay because it likely will not stick around long in theatres. Directed by Shawn Seet and starring Geoffrey Rush and Finn Little. 10/10
A gem of a movie, too bad it doesn’t get more press!
