Stuart Little Reviews
The interspecies mischief makes for a charming family movie about feeling different, being bullied, and fitting in.

A terrific family movie based on a terrific book.

[Uses] class and ethnic stereotypes in support of the idea that it's best to be adopted by rich white people.

The film is strangely uninvolving.

It's perfectly entertaining fare, sprightly, funny and never too cloying.

Doesn't even get close to the spirit of White's wonder - filled but hilariously matter - of - fact story.

A kidnap staged by Snowbell's gang of mates is never convincing, although it is worthwhile listening out for the unusual cat-voice cast, which includes Steve Zahn and Bruno Kirby.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Jan 1, 2000
There's a winking sense of wit about the brightly designed production.

The use of digital effects to create a tiny mouse hero is quite convincing, as are the talking mouths on those cats.

Lively offscreen (and onscreen) performances from Michael J. Fox, Nathan Lane, David Alan Grier and others.

This is really a series of set pieces with the logic of seeing what scrapes the makers can get Stuart into next.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Jan 1, 2000
Every imperious toss of Snowbell's head and twitch of his petulantly bowed mouth synchronizes so smoothly with Lane's dialogue that at times he seems remarkably close to being like a real-life talking cat.

The single best thing about Stuart Little is Nathan Lane.

Stuart Little is an exciting fantasy adventure for kids with more than enough verbal and visual wit to tickle adult funny bones.

The season's most promising family draw.

Stuart Little is top-notch.

Stuart Little doesn't have the exuberant inspiration or seamless, polished dazzle of Toy Story 2, but if the latter is sold out at the multiplex this weekend, the mouse is a passable substitute.

Michael J. Fox is amusingly spunky as the voice of Stuart while Nathan Lane, as Snowbell's voice, is appropriately, well, catty.

With real heart and laughs, Stuart Little lets you forget the special effects and enjoy the show.
