Summer Camp Reviews
“Summer Camp” is a very flawed film and relentlessly predictable. Each woman has a lesson to learn or an epiphany to experience, and their awakening comes right on cue.

This, however, is merely designed to give the actors work without harming their images or taxing their abilities. Somehow, you want to think those retirement years can bring much, much more.

Normally, the trio of Diane Keaton, Kathy Bates and Alfre Woodard would be golden, but they are not, saddled with an awful script and playing awful characters...nothing to really hold on to and engage.

The hackneyed comedy, stereotypes and false nostalgia and the ineptitude of the direction proves to be a lethal combination.

It's like buying a cheap popsicle at the grocery store. On the right day, it's fine.

I just wish they could come up with a script for these things that wasn't totally by-the-numbers limp comedy.

Keaton should fire her producer.

“Summer Camp” has all the depth of a s’mores treat made with no marshmallows or chocolate.
| Original Score: D+ | Jun 13, 2024
The threads are all there for character development and comedy—and yet, they're not woven together well.
| Jun 12, 2024
A waste of talent in every aspect.
| Original Score: 4/10 | Jun 10, 2024
A massive misfire that sucks every last drop of joy and entertainment out of its very existence.

Keaton's phoned-in performance begs the question why she continues to make movies.
| Original Score: D+ | Jun 6, 2024
Moronic friendship camp comedy.
| Original Score: C | Jun 6, 2024
It's infuriating how bad this movie is because you have these 3 actors (Bates, Keaton, & Woodard), but the script is so clunky and not funny and you see the jokes coming a mile away.
| Original Score: 4/10 | Jun 5, 2024
There should be a special kind of movie jail for wasting the talents of actors like this. Make Eugene Levy the cool guy in a better film and just go watch Indian Summer in the meantime.
| Original Score: 1/4 | Jun 4, 2024
If they're going to keep doing stuff like this, however, it really seems like Keaton and cronies could find somebody to write them some snappier dialogue than the meandering stuff they shrug out here.

Summer Camp's shallow and saccharine storytelling and characters have such little three-dimensionality that a couple of Fatheads on your child’s wall would be more well-rounded.
| Original Score: D+ | Jun 3, 2024
Summer Camp brings together an extraordinary cast for a pretty average movie. Despite the talent, the film appears confused and aimless.
| Original Score: 2.5/5 | Jun 1, 2024
Movie lovers over 60 are a vastly underserved demographic in Hollywood, demonstratively so when the few films geared toward them are as inane as the idiotic “Summer Camp.”
| Original Score: D | May 31, 2024
Summer Camp is ultimately a forgettable experience—albeit an enjoyable one—that focuses too much on how its characters have changed as opposed to the buoyant ways they reconnect.
