Sunshine on Leith Reviews
Love this movie, I could watch it over and over again along with Les Mis (Russel Crowe and Hugh Jackman version). Feel good movies with great music:)
Absolutely amazing!!
My favourite movie soundtrack of all time! Also an incredibly beautiful feel-good movie.
A pleasent musical/Romance based around the music of the Proclaimers, Its not one of your high energy musicals but it flows and rolls along nicely.
A superbly enjoyable film. Wonderfully acted and some great songs, how this has passed me by till now i'll never know.
proper jukebox movie, and I'm just not that big a proc fan...
I'm no Proclaimers fan or musicals for that matter but this is great fun. It's unashamedly heart on it's sleeve romanticism but I'll take that any day of the week. A little gem.
Yes yes yes! This movie was somewhat predictable but you don't care. It's hard not to root for everyone while singing along and wiping a few tears.
How on earth did that get 93%. 2 very simple problems with this film.Extraordinarily shallow characters and boring plot. Oh and why do we have to listen to The Proclaimers.
When the proclaimers are on the radio and your dad turns up the volume you know nobodies safe from the singalong that soon follows and now they're on the big screen featuring a cameo from the duo themselves, they really have cemented themselves in British culture. The singing is as expected, first class particularly a joyous rendition of I'm on my way, early on and there's also plenty of humour. Unfortunately the dialogue becomes a bit soppy and broonsesque as the film progresses, but that's a minor hiccup in one of the best feel good films of this year.
I didn't know what to expect from this one, I watched it just because it has one of my favourite actors, Peter Mullan. I was surprised to find out it was a musical, I was even more surprised to find i liked it. Based on songs by The Proclaimers, it is intelligent and well acted. Give it a try!
Aw, I know I'm a sucker for musicals but I loved it! The first scene is outside the place in Constitution Street where I used to get my nails done and there are loads of other scenes filmed just around the corner. Nice to see Peter Mullan in something which had a few happy moments in it for a change. Bawled my eyes out though. But what's with the American salute from an ex-British Army soldier?
