Super Troopers 2 Reviews
Color me surprised that this partially crowd-funded sequel isn't a complete and utter embarrassment.

Super Troopers 2 is ... bizarrely jingoistic and sexist, which is ... strange, because the first one didn't have these problems.

Put me in the mind of the infinite monkey theorem. To paraphrase, an infinite number of frat boys hitting keys at random on a typewriter keyboard for an infinite amount of time will almost surely type a script at least as funny as Super Troopers 2.

It's the kind of project that feels as if good friends are palling around and improvising, while viewers will struggle to find consistent humor.

Sometimes, the best sequels are the ones that never happen.

If you enjoyed the kind of juvenile comedy of Super Troopers, then there's a good possibility you'll enjoy the sequel

What this sequel shows is how much the troupe has learned about narrative pacing. The jokes are more evenly-spread throughout the entire film, rather than all lumped together.

Super Troopers 2 is an exceedingly silly movie, which should come as no surprise since the first film is also very silly. But what separates the two films is an actual, decent plot weaved amongst rude, crude and usually very funny situations.

At the end of the day, it was really good to hang out with this cast of characters again.

As in the original, the amiable, laid-back tone generates enormous good cheer.

Mostly an enjoyably goofy, charmingly raunchy affair whose cast is clearly enjoying themselves

It's a fairly staid, tame endeavor that almost seems flagrantly annoyed at having to repeat the behaviors that made people actually enjoy the first installment. But Rob Lowe does jiggle an exposed wiener. So maybe it's all worth it?

A hit-or-miss comedy that has enough solid laughs to justify itself, but after a 16 year long gap between films, it's not quite enough to make the wait seem worth it.

If you love the gonzo time-killing slapsticks in Super Troopers, you're going to enjoy the border-crossing flavor of Super Troopers 2.

Comedy sequels are often a risky proposition - particularly ones that arrive a decade or more after the first installment - but Super Troopers 2 bucks the trend by dishing out just enough of the same formula to satisfy fans.
| Original Score: 7/10 | Apr 9, 2019
Lazy, awkward, and littered with the kind of jokes that just aren't acceptable in 2018. Watch it only if you have a deep love of the original - but women and French-Canadians should beware.

While it has been a long time in between films, I think that Super Troopers 2 was made specifically for fans of the group. Before going into this film, you practically must rewatch Super Troopers again to fully appreciate what they do in this sequel.

I think a good measure of a comedy is calculated by how many times it can make me laugh divided by the number of attempts. I laughed. And I laughed a lot.

Even watching a 30-minute mudslide can be somewhat eventful if mindlessness is all that is required to satisfy.

Do you have a friend who still insists that Super Troopers is the funniest thing they ever saw and wants to do the meow routine and the Shenanigans joke like they're brand new? This movie is that person - as a movie.
