Swallowed Reviews
Koch is the one that keeps this film from crashing - and when he and his friend are stuck with bugs up their butts, things go bad.
Kept my interest all the way through.
I tried, but just couldn't get there on this one.
This was pretty good, but seemed a little simple to me.
a weird, less than ideal scenario with a good main performance. overstays it’s welcome though, by a lot.
Such a boring movie, so much
Swallowed is a difficult movie to describe...and recommend, for that matter. It certainly is an intriguing movie with solid performances Although the movie is described as a 'body horror', whilst there are some unsettling scenes, it's not what you would describe as a movie with overly disturbing scenes. Thankfully, the more confronting scenes are not too 'in your face' from a visual perspective, leaving it to the viewer's imagination to fill in the blanks.
It's a commendable film within its genre, with well-executed characters and acting, and the subtle or explicit exploration of homosexuality adds an underappreciated but welcome dimension. However, I was somewhat disappointed because it's not a horror movie per se, but rather leans more towards being a thriller or drama
Weak writing with inflated expectations from the so-called professional critics made this movie land way shorter of where I hoped it would be. The plot twists are inexistant. The "gore" or "shocking" is inexistant (beside a couple shots of hairy butts and fake penis props. Jena Malone is annoying as poorly directed - at one moment some hard core drug lord, the next one an empathetic protector arguing with a less than scary and rather pathetic "boss". We don't explore the yet promising story of "hallucinogenic bugs" which was by far the most interesting plot that this movie wrote in, and toss it aside to revert to some half hearted revenge with a tweezer. Verdict: watchable while completing household duties like ironing or doing taxes.
Well, qeerness and representation aside, the movie doesn't offers that much.
I watched it all which is saying something but the storyline was all a bit mad 🤪
Too gross for horror film tolerators, not gross enough for horror film lovers
Cooper Koch and Jena Malone were absolute stand outs!
Great ride, super performances!
Two best friends decide to make some extra cash by smuggling drugs across the border. The drug run goes terribly wrong as the two young men are forced to fight for their lives. "Swallowed" is part body horror and part crime thriller, although it does a better job with the second genre. A movie hard to digest for the most sensitive viewers!
wow; this was NOT what i was expecting it to be. it's not as body-horrific as others have said, but you might think about it next time you have to go to the bathroom, haha. i was actually pleasantly surprised. i thought this was going to be another self-sabotage type story where they party a little too hard & end up hallucinating to the point where everyone dies; a la Requiem for a Dream style. well that wasn't the case at all. this kid gets roped into a situation he wanted absolutely no part in & made the best of it. not a bad survival story at all.
After Covid 온라인카지노추천 and movies took a big hit, I have been very disappointed with paying online for movies and often switch off within the first 10 minutes. This is the first gay horror I have watched and I very much appreciated it, non of that cheesy acting however the old guy with the gun totally spoilt the film, it's was like they run out of money! On the whole I enjoyed and would recommend, nice to actually see full frontal male nudity and not in a sexual way, on the whole an enjoyable watch.
i have trouble starting movies cuz i don't think i'll have the patience to watch the whole thing...this one pulled me in and kept me watching without even noticing the time, it was that GOOD- thanks to the director, cast, and story!!!
I saw the trailer, and as a lover of horror/thriller movies and part of the LGB community I was excited to see this. It was terrible, very misleading. Who is rating this? Whatever artsy thing they were trying to do with the lo-res visuals was awful. The idea behind the movie is great, could have been something. They did nothing with it. No horror, bad acting, bad story. You keep thinking it's going to start getting good and then it's over and you wonder what the point was. It's only, "omg" moment can probably be found on twitter and not worth the rest of your evening.
Gird your loins, this horror movie packs a punch!
