Despite some funny antics along the way, the viewer feels like an outsider looking in at people who are clearly having more fun than we are watching them.

Tag's a movie that doesn't want to grow up.

A solid source of laughs in a summer that sorely needs them.

Some of the film is so incredibly stupid, it's funny.

All I can say is get ready to laugh a whole lot and get a little taste of your childhood thrown back in your face.

The film's ensemble cast couldn't be more wildly different, yet together they seem like something pretty wildly wonderful and funny and endearing.

[T]hese are some gratingly obnoxious men-children who operate with such a solipsistic bent that they feel more like fodder for satire than buddies to root for.

It may not be the funniest comedy, or the most insightful when it delves into the dynamics of male camaraderie, but there's just enough joy going on here to satisfy our need for entertainment.

I don't mean to oversell Tag as some masterstroke of comedy, but if you bother to dig a little deeper into the beating hearts underneath the big game being played, there's something quite charming and touching happening.

Big stars, high concepts, low humour and a waste of time. and talent.

Tag is one of those rare comedies where the jokes land more often than they don't and there is genuine heart behind all of the humor.

For a movie based on both a fantastical story and a joyous childhood activity, the wit and whimsy is sadly too sporadic

From a nostalgia standpoint, Tag is perfectly poised to bring in parents who are already lamenting a summer spent on phones and iPads, but as a buddy movie it fails to connect.

Knockabout comedy Tag won't be for everyone, but its raucous silliness is good fun if it finds you in the right mood.
