Tenet Reviews
The basic premise follows a spy tasked with preventing a future war in order to save the present. While this fresh take on the spy thriller subgenre is intriguing, Tenet falters in its execution. Many scenes feel disjointed, leaving the viewer questioning how one event leads to another. Furthermore, the heavy-handed scientific jargon about time travel only complicates the narrative, resulting in too many head-scratching moments and a lack of fluidity in the storytelling. That said, the film does deliver occasional thrills.
It's trivial and full of lies and is not considered a science fiction movie. I completely understand your feeling of frustration towards the movie Tenet and your description of it as 'trivial and full of lies' and that it doesn't live up to being a true science fiction film from your point of view. You have the right to this opinion, and many viewers may share it. Also, there are points we need to focus on: Focus on style at the expense of scientific substance: You might see that the film focuses excessively on complex visual scenes and the controversial concept of inversion, without providing a coherent scientific explanation or a deeper exploration of the logical consequences of this concept. Excessive plot complexity: Some viewers find the plot excessively and unnecessarily complex, making it difficult to follow events and understand the characters' motivations. It might seem like complexity for the sake of complexity itself, rather than serving a deeper story. Lack of scientific credibility: If you appreciate science fiction films that at least try to offer a logical scientific explanation for their concepts (even if fictional), then Tenet's blatant disregard for known laws of physics might seem to you like 'lies' or a lack of respect for the foundations of the genre. Undeveloped characters: You might find the characters in the film superficial and unconvincing, and that the film's focus is on the plot and the concept rather than developing characters you can empathize with. Pointless ambiguity: You might feel that some aspects of the film are artificially ambiguous, not for the purpose of provoking thought or leaving room for interpretation, but rather to create more confusion. Why might its classification as a science fiction film be questioned? Science fiction usually includes elements based on scientific concepts (current or potentially future), and explores the consequences of these concepts on society or individuals. You might see that Tenet lacks this deep exploration, and that the temporal 'inversion' in it is merely a plot device rather than an idea that is analyzed or deeply understood. Also, the soundtrack is trivial and not good."
Like all Nolan films you need to concentrate on the dialogue to follow the complex plot, but unfortunately the muffled speech combined with the loud sound effects creates a headache inducing mush that ruins what looks to be a fascinating idea.
Though the acting may be stiff at times, and the plot will definitely warp your brain, the ideas and concepts packed in the movie make it worth a watch.

Interesting concept and plot with decent performances by some well known actors but the music, if you can call it that, was horrendous. Droning, grating industrial noise that carried on throughout without pause. Unbelievably distracting and annoying while trying to focus on some somewhat complex and rapid dialogue. There must have been a whole twenty seconds in the entire movie where there wasn't this incessant noise grinding away mercilessly, most of the time drowning out the dialogue to the point that this movie would be unwatchable without subtitles. Hard to recommend because of this. Update - just found out this director Nolan also did Oppenheimer, another movie we noticed that had an overbearing score playing all the time during the whole movie - why? It's almost like having a radio on while trying to watch a flick. If this is his signature then I can't say we are fans and will probably avoid.
A Masterpiece ✨✨✨✨😄
Tenet is ahead of it's time. It's a lot to wrap your mind around, but this movie is presenting ideas and visuals that I have not really seen or heard of in a movie before. Plus, the whole thing is a blast to watch and has awesome action and some nice dabs of humor. It might be too much for most to keep up with but as the movie explains..."Don't try to understand it, just feel it."
I thought that the story was very hard to follow, but after a rewatch, I am impressed. The cast work really well together and the complex ideas in this Nolan movie elevates the performances.
I'll be brief. Waiting for TeneT II!
This is another Christopher Nolan MASTERPIECE. You do have to pay attention when watching it as it is very confusing. It is a fun and entertaining movie once you get into it.
The music and effect sounds were way too loud compared to the dialogue. Tenet was an interesting movie, but added a few too many layers that were not needed.
You have to be prepped to watch Tenet, or in the perfect energy/mood. First viewing you're confused. Second viewing you're angry and intrigued. From the 4th viewing you'll spend eternity arguing with your friends. If you're a newbie, don't start binging Nolan's movies with Tenet. Casting feels random and a missed opportunity, and you need to concentrate on the dialogue so much, that you miss out of the action/visuals. Thank god for Nolan.
I'm beyond grateful I was given the chance to watch it in IMAX with the reissue.
Am I a dummy for not understanding this movie half of the time? First half was lost but then it all came together in a Nolan fashion. Still, why should I care about any of these characters? They even suggest a story/events that I think would have been more interesting with the Protagonist and Neil.
A man, a plan, a canal, panama
A top-tire action/spy movie.
If you like Christopher Nolan movies, you will most likely find this movie enjoyable. If you’re not familiar with Nolan’s movies, I’d stay away.
I don’t know if it’s just me but I love this film. This seriously might be one of my favourite films ever. It is so complex and interesting. I can understand that it’s hard to understand but doesn’t that make it that much better. Where is the fun in knowing everything, I loved unpacking the movie and learning it. Remember everyone has their own opinion.
Time travel movies are in general hard to make, this one is very challenging to watch due to the fast dialogue and multiple twists. It is not worth the time I spent to watch it.
