Texas Killing Fields Reviews
Strong movie, good acting. Movie is gritty and real
A TRUE GEM!! You actually feel what each character feels, in the different relationships, in every situation. I watch this movie 2 to 3 times a month!
I think the critics and audience reviews of this film are too harsh, The director set the mood with the pacing and atmosphere of the crappy Texas town, and the acting was terrific. Morgan is outstanding - he conveys the personal pain the killings cause him, having failed to stop a killer once before. Worthington is square-jawed as always, and his cop is a local boy who knows just how degenerate and disgusting this part of Texas can be, SPOILER ALERT ! The plot was straight forward - we are supposed to believe the orange-haired weird dude killed everyone (presaging another orange-haired villain the media loves to blame). Predictably, he’s just a garden variety psycho killer, not a serial killer and rapist of defenseless women. Even though I knew what was coming, it was still tense and effective. The cast is outstanding - really all stars, and the director if Miami Vice’s Michael Manns daughter. She got Daddy’s skills with car chases for sure. Moretz is as always amazing. She really does look like a tiny Pre-Raphaelite angel. An engrossing late-night watch that hooked me and kept me up til 3. Not a waste of time.
Not a good movie . Was hoping for better . But the last 30 minutes saves it. I suppose
I had trouble understanding whom the cops were after and why. I thought it would all come together by the end. I guess it did in one way. The acting was good, especially Little Ann. I did not understand the fate of one bad guy. I don't understand the cop/wife's role.
Great story. I think they missed the mark on action, needed a little more.
Not the best in several ways, but well cast and well acted. Although quite a few others didn't, I found TEXAS KILLING FIELDS engaging and worth the watch.
A movie that is loosely based on the real life events of people being murdered in this one particular area of Texas.
Powerful script and powerful acting. There were plot threads that weren't wrapped up and so the movie had some confusion in it. But overall, I thought it gripping and intelligent.
This movie has potential. Be prepared to say "what the eff is going on". It just doesn't make any sense. It makes no god damn sense.
This had potential with decent actors. But it devolved quickly into a badly edited and poorly directed mess. Lots of stereotypes. Not worth it!
An average crime thriller based on a true story that follows all the usual tropes of this genre.
A movie with a decent cast trying it's best to make a bad script works.
I enjoyed watching this though it was a big fragmented.
jumps right into things without much explanation or backstory. Also, there were some supporting characters that weren't really needed. The pace and style in which the story is told... it's really weird, it's able to be comprehended but maybe it shouldn't have been. Still, I don't think this was as bad as reviews suggest. I think it could have been better as a season of HBO's True Detective and it would have been better than season two, at least that's the vibe I was getting.
_Texas Killing Fields_ is strangely detached film, in spite of its heavy subject matter: a serial killer who is capturing teenage girls and stashing their bodies in a Texas bayou, and the two cops who are on the case. I think the main problem is lack of character development. I felt like I never got to know any of the characters, with the possible exception of Jeffrey Dean Morgan's cop. And even he was sketchy. The killer is also completely undeveloped. No motivation, no explanation for the crimes. He's little more than a prop. So, without any characters we can relate to or invest in, we get a police procedural with no real story, just procedure. Not quite rotten, but only a two star movie.
Gritty, good, gut wrenching. Good old-fashioned American storytelling covering a tough to watch plot.
I love this cast but they are given nothing to do in this snore inducing supposed suspense film.
With a great cast list, I jumped into this film with enthusiasm. This was met with a complete plot and some of my favorite actors. The plot is difficult to follow and sone scenes seem completely unnecessary and others feel as though there needs to be more details. I wanted to love it but at the end I just ended liking it only. So for this being an ok film with some good action, I give " Texas Killing Fields " a C.
