The 33 Reviews
Based on a real story that happened in Chile (filmed in part here and with some Chilean actors), this is the worst case of whitewashing in recent years, as well as being the film that contains Juliette Binoche’s worst performance ever, and that’s a sin.

Riggen certainly still employs a plentiful creative license to dramatize and compress this trauma into two hours, but the lionizing on one end and the vilifying on the other is remarkably low.

“The 33” hits nearly every disaster movie tick. I still enjoyed the film overall, but I kept waiting for it to do something unique. It never quite does.

The 33 moved me deeply...the movie stirred a desire in me to be more attentive to the world around me.

A truly incredible tale of battling the odds, The 33 is told in the most bland, uninspired manner possible.

The film has a lot of warmth and humor to even out the drama.

If you are in the mood for a cheesy inspirational film you certainly could do worse.

Like the cavernous interior of the mountain in which it takes place, Patricia Riggen's The 33 has a number of faults but is still a compelling human drama.

On a scale of one to ten, the film is average, heartwarming, hopeful, but struggles with being a memorable onscreen take of a great survival story that had the world holding its breath.

It is simply recreating 온라인카지노추천 images that are familiar to us. It takes a very safe journey towards its obviously predictable outcome, ticking all the boxes on its way.

The 33 is a predictable film with a lot of heart. Just wish the filmmakers hadn't played it so safe.

We're so invested in the question of how in the world the rescue crew can get to the men that we actually desire some detailed answers. The 33 provides these in suitably impressive yet easy to comprehend fashion.

A solid rescue thriller as well as a real-life variation on the kind of ensemble picture about a group coming together from all walks of life.

It's sometimes frustratingly manipulative, but where The 33 goes right, is that even though the sentimentality is laid on pretty thick, it's easy to care about these people

This is a plain biopic that has its heart in the right place but doesn't deliver anything extraordinary.

Thankfully, things do slowly improve, helped by an ensemble cast led, almost inevitably, by Antonio Banderas, and the emotional climax is likely to leave audiences moist-eyed.

I guess the filmmakers were afraid that we'd forget they were Chilean if they didn't all sound like banditos in a spaghetti Western.

For a movie about trapped miners, there is a shocking absence of tension.

While there are parts of the film that feel clich, and some subplots that could stand to be edited down or removed altogether, it's undeniable that The 33 wears its heart on its sleeve.

Riggen charts the cave-in and ensuing rescue efforts to stirring if conventional effect, abetted by one of the late James Horner's final scores.
