A fantastical idea that is grounded in heartfelt human emotions, as a father and son navigate a world where people are turning into hybrid animals.

The title is really a metaphor. This movie is all about humanity. How we sometimes give in to our fears and ignorance and how sometimes we shines through despite the impossible odds. It's savage, delicate, and glorious if we understand and make the best of the animal within us.

Story that underlies is equally heartbreaking as the one on surface in this unique pandemic drama. Every dialogue and an expression of characters brings value to the story that's what's remarkable about the movie. It's haunting at times but the mutated beings symbolizes an innocence beyond human comprehension. Cinematography and visual effects were perfect for the job. Audio effects are excellent. Cast does an impressive job in unfolding this heartbreaking tale with their sincere performances that's just the right amount. Animal kingdom can definitely place it self as a movie with both reason and artistry.

Beautifully shot but plodding. I fell asleep less than halfway through it.

Unsatisfying but cute. Interesting plot that needed more development

This is a strange but very beautiful movie! The acting is superb. I can't say enough good things about it. I don't want to give any spoilers so I won't say very much about the plot. It is a scifi/fantasy about a world where a strange mutation has hit some of the population. The film never really clarifies why this happened..but it is not really necessary to the story. It is about the population as it is, and the way they are handling this new reality. This is told through the experiences of a father and son who are dealing with the way this mutation has touched their lives.

The cinematography is the biggest plus with the plot being the weakest, and the acting somewhere in between, leaning towards the higher side.

this has an interesting concept, and visually it's very appealing, but it meanders and wastes the viewers time far too much, and they clearly had no idea how to end the thing. its not bad, but i think they had a little too much conceptual stuff going on and not enough narrative structure. the allegory is obvious from the start, and they get a little bit too sappy about it especially near the end. i can't stand when people in movies won't watch the road while they drive, or when they pause for no reason whatsoever outside of dramatic effect when something urgent is going on, and the ending here is basically those two things over and over for longer than is comfortable. i won't rate the film poorly persay, but i struggle to recommend it. you could watch a highlight reel of the various chimeras and their behavior instead of seeing the actual movie, and you would not miss much.

For awhile the movie fools you into thinking that it might not be yet another obvious metaphor for tolerance but alas that's where we end up. I wouldn't have minded so much if the script was bold enough to make complicated and transgressive choices the way Clive Barker's "Nightbreed" does (i.e. observing that marginalized subcultures are not free of their own internal dangers) but we just don't spend enough time in the animal world here for that to happen.

Un film qui démarre lentement et donne presque l'impression d'être un téléfilm par sa relative simplicité de mise en scène. Et pourtant, il aborde une riche palette de sentiments et de relations humaines qui sont traités avec une vraie délicatesse et justesse. Bouleversant.

This years version of Freaks vs. The Reich... yes it's its subtitled but that let's be honest you should be watch every movie with them on. Beautifully shot, the lead is extremely strong! In one word it was REFRESHING!

This was the biggest waste of time in a long long time. Please don't make the same mistake like me and two other poor souls. We feel mentally hurt and physically exhausted after going through this.

In a world hit by an unknown disease that transforms humans into animals, a man struggles to save his wife and son from the gruesome mutations that will transform their lives forever. "The Animal Kingdom" challenges the audience to go above and beyond the traditional boundaries of what it means to be human. A movie that explores the limits of our humanity in a passionate and unexpected way. And it does an outstanding job in delivering this social exercise!

What a beautiful movie of the relationship of father and son after their wife and mother caught the mutation virus. Beautifully done without focusing on shock values with the creatures. A movie after viewing you can't stop thinking about.

This shows, in a pretty realistic way, how different people react when confronted with someone who is different. Some embrace, some protect and help, while far too many with to destroy. And, as usual, the more violent voices seem to win. The primary purpose of this movie is to tell a love story. A man who truly loves his wife, and refuses to give up on her, even though no one would blame him for turning away. And the love of a father for his son, doing everything he can to help the son survive and stay safe. It was a refreshing change to see a father represented as honorable, instead of the usual incompetent, selfish joke we see so many times in movies and shows.

Something else than the usual American films. I recommend!
