The BFG Reviews
It fell very flat. It's a really classic book, but it just didn't pan out right on screen. Holds absolutely nothing to the animated movie. It's a pretty fun movie - it's fun to imagine there's giants above Scotland, and it's fun to see it played out with the movies admittedly pretty cool looking visual effects. But it's just not a fantastic film.
One of my favs! It's heartwarming, magical, fun and visually groundbreaking!
Enjoyed it a lot more than I expected! Great visuals, nice story, definitely worth watching, I don’t get why all the bad reviews
Amazing movie! Definitely watch with family!
It's close encounters of the large and absurd kind as Spielberg does a good job of adapting this children's classic.
Was mid. I prefer to watch shrek
I got a mini book of this slay
Based on the book by Roald Dahl and directed by Stephen Spielberg, this film is about a 10-year-old girl who is taken away by a giant to Giant Country. Ruby Barnhill plays the girl, named Sophie, and does a good job considering she is in most scenes by herself. Mark Rylance voices the BFG and also does well. The take on the BFG speech was a plot point, but a lot of the times he was confusing to listen to or needed translating from Sophie. The computer graphics are good, though the lighting seemed off in certain parts and the giants look a bit too cartoony for me. This film is targeting younger children and I often gage these movies by how long it takes to get to the first “fart joke”. This film took 35 minutes, which isn’t a great score. This leads me to believe that the writing of the film is not very good. There were a couple scenes that I felt didn’t get across what they were going for. This is not a bad film, and the target audience may enjoy it. Check it out if you are curious.
What the hell? Um….. why did they make this film so….. ugly and weird and gross. I don’t know about you, but this doesn’t feel like something Spielberg would make. I’m sorry but I just don’t want to think about this nightmare ever again. Big friendly giant my asshole. More like Big freakish GAG.
I love this movie because it explores the darker themes of Roald Dahl's fantastic novel while still keeping it a child-friendly experience. The cast is great, the direction is top-notch and the visuals (if not entirely convincing at times) are beautiful. 4.5/5
They got a biology fact wrong. Snozzcumbers have seeds, and therefore they are fruits, not vegetables.
Despite the legitimately impressive effects work and the perfect casting of Rylance, there's a hollowness to the film that can't be ignored.
Its been a while since i have seen this movie but when I did watch it, it was a good movie and good book. But a weird story line
This was one of my favorite books that I read with my children, who are now in their thirties. I didn't watch the movie when it first came out because it was so badly reviewed. I just watched it tonight and I LOVED it.
ITS GLUMMY🤤 *SHARTS in EARRAPE* YAHoOoO🤠
The accent is so hard to understand tho. First half part is a bit boring but second half is too fast
The BFG was an okay movie. I watched it kind of a long time ago, but I remember it was fine. I remember reading the book after I watched the movie, and the book was much better but the movie was still fine. The BFG was boring and interesting at the same time. It could have been better but is was still good.
Did not give the magical atmosphere that the book exudes. Felt more like a non standout story
Adaptation of a novel but lacks character development?
