The Big Wedding Reviews

Jul 7, 2024

I cannot believe that this many proven star-power performers can make such an awful stinker. My wife was enjoying this on the 온라인카지노추천 when I entered the living room. After five minutes of failed attempts at humor, contrived nonsense, and immediately forgettable dialogue, I had enough. I felt my brain start to melt.

This film was so bad I felt compelled to make an account here and warn other people against watching it. Most of all I really do not understand how two main actresses could accept to play such demeaning roles. Were they tricked into it? Strange ...just strange.

I experienced 90 minutes of "flabbergastation" watching this movie trying to comprehend how this pedigree of cast became involved with this bad sitcom level project. Actually, make that 180 minutes because I immediately watched it a second time to see if I was missing something. No joke! I think the skill of the cast is both a blessing and a curse - they help the film earn its *1/2 stars on the sheer basis of their talent, but said talent also highlights how mediocre this film is in every other aspect. I've seen episodes of SHE'S THE SHERIFF with more depth and originality. It's nothing short of a cinematic tragedy to watch an icon like De Niro perform some of the scenes in this movie - a true heartbreaker. When Robin Williams is boring in a movie, you know something is greatly amiss!

What's not to love? The actors and storyline are perfect

It is a sweet, funny movie, the type that can be rewatched when you just want to smile and relax.

Honestly not that bad 2.6

If you're looking for brilliant, mind blowing, innovative cinema, this is not your movie. If you want an amusing, fluffy, time waster, this is your movie. It's cute, formulaic, and filled with well known actors. I enjoyed it and it makes a good movie to have on in the background while you're doing other things.

This movie looks ok, the house is nice, the actors are huge stars but it doesn't work on any level. It's probably an in-joke between De Niro and Keaton how poor it was.

How come this was so bad that it cant be good

This movie his hilarious. Absolutely hilarious. The reviewers on RT are obviously smoking something. To give this a 7% is idiotic and asinine. Don't listen to them. You have to watch this movie. You will laugh your ass off.

The usual question "What could go wrong?" is not the one to ask regarding mixtures of family drama and secretive revelations amid wedding preparation and commencement. It is actually "What's so different?". The answer to that related question is what this film is as agreeably contrived and rushed in handling and giving free passes of acceptances, which ironically passes decently with an all-star cast charmingly bringing heart and humor in defining the enjoyable value. While a mediocre reality being well told with a nice characterized assortment, it also stands as a feel-good film in a way to wash out the taste from watching a bad film. (B)

Major cast is beyond the scope of a pallid script; seemingly shot in a single take as there seem to be little at stake

A great love triangle... But besides that it wasn't great. Very predictable. Worth the watch for the four most famous stars. Was this one of Robin Williams last movies?

Jun 14, 2020

I'm not sure I would recommend this movie but it wasn't terrible either. The all-star cast might be impressive, however same can not be said of "the big wedding". A comedy? -more of a tragedy. Talent wasted, my good opinion lost.... Predictable, simple and often boring are the words I would use to describe this film. The plot was rather disappointing and the chemistry between the characters laking. This film is a way of passing time - cute and sweet but not really entertaining.

Film making is a funny thing. Fickle, complicated and takes immense talent to pull it all together. A shit show like this doesn't happen too often but when it does so many questions come to mind. How could Robert DeNiro, Diane Keaton, Susan Sarandon and Robin Williams read this script and agree to take the gig? Say those four names again three times. Those are some of the four greatest names in cinema acting and yet somehow they collectively read the script and agreed to make the picture. Goes to show how Hollywood often makes no sense whatsoever. Four AAA list actors who don't need the work can stumble into something so terrible that a 7% RT score is generous. For all the film makers out there - know that getting a dream cast in your film doesn't guarantee that'll be any good.

Boring film, weak script, terrible performances

Before the credits I cold tell this was an approximation of a foreign movie with less restraint in its ideology. What a smart guy am I!But it doesn't work with the unlikeable characteristics and traits these characters display.Show skin. say bad words, get Daddy to finance something to deduct on tax returns, all with aloust and lagging script.Yech!!

Donald Robert "Don" Griffin (Robert De Niro) and Eleanor "Ellie" Griffin (Diane Keaton) were a New England couple married for twenty years before they divorced. They have three children from their marriage – Lyla (Katherine Heigl), Jared (Topher Grace), and adopted son Alejandro (Ben Barnes), who originates from Colombia. In preparation for Alejandro's wedding, Ellie arrives at Don's (and her old) home, and lets herself in. She interrupts Don just as he is about to perform oral sex on Beatrice Martha "Bebe" McBride (Susan Sarandon), his girlfriend of eight years (and Ellie's former best friend). All are embarrassed, but they make small talk, and he shows Ellie to her room. Meanwhile, Alejandro and his fiancée Missy (Amanda Seyfried) are meeting with Father Moinighan (Robin Williams), the priest who will be marrying them. It is revealed that Alejandro's biological mother Madonna is going to be coming from Colombia to the wedding, which upsets Alejandro since he does not have a "traditional" family, and his Catholic mother would not approve of that or the fact that Don and Ellie had been divorced. Lyla, who reveals she is separated, goes to the hospital and sees her 29-year-old brother Jared, an OB, after passing out. They talk and it is revealed that he is a virgin and is waiting for the "right one". Back at home, Alejandro tells Ellie about his mother coming to the wedding. Explaining that since she is a devout Catholic and doesn't believe in divorce, Alejandro asks Ellie and Don to pretend to be married for the next three days. Hearing this, Bebe becomes upset and leaves the house, clearly upset at Don... The film received largely negative reviews. Rotten Tomatoes critical consensus states, "The Big Wedding's all-star cast is stranded in a contrived, strained plot that features broad stabs at humor but few laughs." One observer pointed out that The Big Wedding's reviews are among the worst of the year. Lou Lumenick of the New York Post wrote, "'I'd rather gouge my eyes out with hot spoons!' De Niro exclaims at one point. I'm not sure exactly what he was talking about, but I'd like to think it referred to the prospect of being forced to watch The Big Wedding." According to business outlets, the movie "was a massive flop at theaters", even though it recouped its production costs by a few million dollars.[9] It opened with a $7.5 million at 2,633 North American locations, leading one observer to state, "Expect domestic exhibitors to file for divorce in the very near future." Heigl was nominated for Worst Supporting Actress at the 34th Golden Raspberry Awards in 2013, where she lost to Kim Kardashian for Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor. This dysfunctional family comedy is pretty silly and not that entertaining in my book. It´s an American remake of the original 2006 French film "Mon frère se marie" (My brother is getting married) written by Jean-Stéphane Bron and Karine Sudan. We get a heavy weight cast that tries their best, but that doesn´t save the film as it has a mediocre and clichéridden script that has too many sidestories which are simply not that interesting. "The Big Wedding" is a film you can pass simply put.

Too mean-spirited to redeem itself...
