The Deal Reviews
It was fascinating until it shifted about 2/3 through and became more predictable. The ending was not believable. But I'd still recommend it.
The storyline of "The Deal" has a good premise Unfortunately, the screenplay is confusing. The movie's uneven because its thrill factor is propelled through at least half way by withholding important facts about the plot. Both Christian Slater and Selma Blair are great though.
A solid thriller. The plot is timely, with echoes of Iraq, Wall Street corruption, chauvinistic politicians, etc.. The plot is full of twists but most are pretty predictable. The acting is solid. A very entertaining movie.
Corporations, Wall Street, Russian Mafia, U.S. government. Phony oil deal with lots of players. Betrayals and in-fighting. Simplistic, but seems complex and sheet-pulling on the back room and board folk. Not that good, but OK enough to pass time with.
No Christian, NO! Stop doing movies like this I beg you! Your such an under-rated actor, and this crap keeps you under-rated! My Own Worst Enemy was amazing... make better choices man!!
Absolut seværdig thriller, i stil med "The Firm".

Christian Slater plays...wait, you know what, this film was so useless, I won't even waste your time....
Great film that keeps you wondering what the truth is. Not really sure of who to believe. Can't keep your eyes off of Christian Slater who shines in this low budget film. Worth seeing
Christian Slater tracking some illegal environmental contract... is there anyone left who wonders why his career ended?
Mala como el veneno, aunque curiosamente toca temas que en el 2005 me imagino que se veian mas lejanos... Mala direccion, pesima edicion... evitenla.
A pretty good direct-to-DVD thriller set in a near future USA which is at at war with some sort of "Arab Federation" in the Middle East and gas prices have risen astronomically ($6 a gallon). Christian Slater plays an investment banker who is charged with putting together a deal in which a U.S. oil company will buy a Russian oil company which has new and productive oil fields in Russia. Or does it? Soon people starting dying and Slater starts unravelling a massive conspiracy. With Selma Blair, Robert Loggia, and Canuck actor Colm Feore. Angie Harmon looks hot but her part is underwritten. My major complaint is that film has too low a budget to show the effects this extensive war and high gas prices would have on the economy and society. The film was shot in Vancouver posing as New York.
overly-scripted dialogue, plodding pace. ended up eating a bagful of m&ms while watching it to allow the symphony of crunching peanuts distract from the twee production unfolding on the screen.
As annoying as I find Christian Slater in general, his one trick pony that is referred to as his acting skill suited the film. Overall a good one to see and I recommend it. I'm not familiar with Selma Blair but she strikes me as a Katie Holmes photocopy in this film. Maybe it was just the look she was given. All in all, worth the watch as the ending is quite interesting and the building action is pretty solid.
Another good one from Christian Slater....And Angie Harmon... Oh Boy.o.boy.... (Wonder Woman anyone?) Wow!!!!
