The Devil's Candy Reviews
This movie is definitely a hidden gem all horror fans must watch. The movie is creepy and will send chills down your spine. It has a great cast and a very good storyline.
Fantastic acting all around. Hooked me right in. Kiara Glasco was especially phenomenal in her role as Zoey. Pruitt Vince pulled off the creeper character so well. Soundtrack was amazing. Definitely a sleeper hit. If I had one thing to nit pick, it was Jesse's hair which looked like a wig and it was annoying. Absolutely great film.
After moving with his family to a new house, a struggling artist starts painting dark imagery as if he is being guided by an invisible malevolent force. The couple's daughter is stalked by the man who previously lived in the house, a disturbing character with a disturbing mission: use the girl as candy to "feed" Satan. "The Devil's Candy" portrays the Devil as a master who manipulates his puppets for them to carry out his deeds. An unsettling personification of evil!
Disjointed in it's storytelling but occasionally frightening, the film is ultimately pretty forgettable despite the heavy metal soundtrack
Just shows there are people out there that are sick! The truth is that this is happening all the time to people. This movie was well done with great actors and music.
Very good movie! Wonderful actors, awesome music andtotally terrifying storyline! Every parents'nightmare! I cant believe it took this long for me to find it. 2 thumbs up!
Absolutely sinnester, diabolical horror. evil and hard to watch at times but you can't look away. On the edge of your seat. There is light at the end of the tunnel. an underlying message is here for all to heed. Buckle up.
I liked the musical aspect of it, and the casting seemed really spot-on. Embry, Glasco, and Appleby were also good fits for their roles. And of course Pruitt Taylor Vince delivers a fantastic performance. But IMO the story was really lame. If it wasn't for Vince I'd probably have judged this movie more harshly. As it is, I can't really recommend it. But it's not terrible either.
I saw it just cuz Ethan Embry was in it... To begin with, but it was a good movie with or without him. A little bit hokey but most horror films are. And a good amount of gratuitous Gore. Pruitt Taylor Vince did a great job as a creep. I got to admit Ethan's hairline kind of bothered me a little bit. It was low for normal person. His was too low. Also why is the sound all f up. It seems like when they were having just conversation the sound was muffled and then when they would start playing music all sudden it's so loud I'd have to turn it down. Can you guys just fix the sound?
Very dark, great character development for the short run time, and well paced. The "metal" through line present from the opening scene to the final act and is a great companion for the story if that's your thing. Add this to the gem list.
Rating: 6/10. 67/100
Between this movie and The Loved Ones, Sean Byrne is on fire. Really good movie, dark, gory, suspenseful. All the core elements of an excellent horror movie.
Sean Byrne needs to do more horror movies. This is a phenomenal horror movie. It is dark.
Im expecting more gore
This movie is stylish, well acted and disturbing. All you can ask for in a horrer film. With that said, It is difficult to watch because of the child sacrifice subject matter.
This film has everything necessary to be a phenomenal movie. A compelling plot, the music is well done, and the director clearly has talent. The problem is that the film tends to almost lose focus from the story being told. At times it seems as if the director was more focused on getting a cool shot then the plot at hand, and at some points it is a bit too much. Instead of focusing on the story being told, the film draws your attention to the shots/cinematography. The shots are by no means bad but it just takes the focus away from the story and movie at hand at the determent to the film.
Good horror movie. Really keeps you captivated during the third act. The first and second act are a bit slow. I wouldve gave this movie a higher rating but the pacing was just so slow and theres a lot of unanswered questions.
This horror movie is really cool. It has characters that you will care about. If you like heavy metal music and horror movie, then make sure to check out this film.
Fans of horror will appreciate the solid and interesting storyline that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Solid performances throughout and a well paced creepiness about it. Really a notch above a lot of other horrors about psycho killers.
