Denzel Washington excels as a cool-headed and calculative dispenser of justice. At the core of his character is a man who has sworn off his past as a deadly government operative in favor of a quiet, peaceful life. As the story goes with this type of character, he is forced back into the life he left behind. Although the action scenes are infrequent due to the film’s slow pacing, they are appropriately graphic. Marton Csokas, in turn, is suitably savage as an oligarchic enforcer.

A fun and well thought-out action movie

I was supposed to be watching 1 & 2 back-to-back, but I stopped after watching this one. It was actually a chore to get through. I think it took 2 or 3 sessions to get through the whole thing. It's just not my genre. But so many people like this franchise, so I decided to give it a try.

A solid action revenge thriller following an intriguing mystery man played well by Denzel Washington who peels back the layers to brutalize the brutalizers with some clever character payoffs that weaves the whole story together (even if Chloe Grace Moretz’s character nearly gets fridged until the end of the movie). It’s no John Wick, but it’s still wittier and more exciting than your average action flick and you do end up caring for everyone in the main badass’s little tight-knit community.

A weekend action movie. Ok.

Bit of a slow start and was expecting alot more action

Denzel lifts every project he is in, and this is no different. He is amazing...the rest of the movie...well it kinda worked for 30 minutes. Classic revenge story with a competent protagonist, but then it goes off the rails and meanders for another 2 hours. There are so many plot holes, strange shifts in character behavior, and unexplained events that you just sort of check out of the movie until it is over. I started this series by watching Equalizer 3, and I loved it. Not sure how a sequel ever got green lit after this mess of a movie.

The Equalizer has a pretty solid script, but it has terrible editing and pacing. The main character is the definition of a person with perfect moral. He is ruthless, but he kills to save people. The themes of caring, kindness, giving people a chance are not complicated, but important. The story is predictable, but engaging. On the other hand, the movie is not. The editing is terrible. The fight scenes are just bad, because I couldn't see anything. The pacing is also horrible. The beginning was good, it had a lot of similarities to John Wick and I though that would be the slow part, but the fight sequence in the end was a lot more boring, I fell asleep several times. The cinematography was sometimes gorgeous, but in a few scenes, it was just pretty bad. Denzel Washington is a terrific actor and he created an interesting character, his performance was great. The Equalizer is pretty boring, I think it could've been a lot better with a shorter runtime and well-edited fight scenes.

Classic Denzel Washington. Does amazing work in this one as always. Good action aswell.

I’d been wanting to see *The Equalizer* for a while, and it didn’t disappoint. Denzel Washington is incredible, bringing a level of intensity and depth to his role that only he can. The plot is straightforward, but that simplicity works to the film's advantage—it lets the action and characters shine without unnecessary twists. The action sequences are impressively crafted, balancing grit and style, and there’s just enough humor woven in to keep it from feeling too heavy. The supporting cast is strong, and you can’t help but root for Washington's character as he takes on the bad guys with a quiet, commanding force. It’s incredibly badass, and at the end of the day, sometimes you just want an entertaining, well-made thriller that delivers on thrills. I had a great time with it, and that’s all that mattered!

It’s like Sherlock Holmes meets John Wick with a hint of the Accountant. Best of all there is compassion and a will to do good.

The Equalizer starts off decent enough but slowly turns into The Tranquilizer. It does a pretty good job establishing the relationship between Washington and Moretz but then strangely takes off in another direction. The incompetent scriptwriting and directing slowly makes you loose interest until you fastforward through one of the worst third acts known to man. At least it looks pretty good in the meantime.

Badass, a bit unrealistic but who fucking cares. Washing gives a stunning performance! It's really good and entertaining.

It was a great movie.. one of Denzel's best indeed.

McCall, a sinister man with habits bordering on perfectionism, often has tea at a restaurant, where he meets a young woman named Teri. Each night, she dresses differently, until one evening they have a deeper conversation about dreams and aspirations. However, everything changes when a man beats her and drags her into a car. Shortly after, she ends up in a hospital. McCall then tracks down the man and kills him along with his entire crew. This sets off a chain of events, leading to the arrival of Teddy, a Russian hitman who seeks revenge. Teddy’s arrival triggers a series of violent events, including the murder of Mandy, McCall turning in Masters and exposing the entire Russian mafia, along with their money and financial dealings. In the end, Teddy takes over McCall’s workplace in an attempt to kill him, but his plan backfires, and McCall eliminates all of them. In short, this film stands out solely for the work of the cinematographer, who—at times—delivers shots with excellent composition, though some close-ups are completely unnecessary. The performances of Denzel and Chloë are dreadful, the premise itself is clichéd, the plot lacks any complexity, the pacing is uneven, and the conclusion is unsatisfying. Overall, it's a disappointing film, though nothing more should have been expected. After all, it's just another action movie that prides itself on portraying a soldier who kills with visceral precision, without blinking—but that's all it has to offer.

First time I go to watch this movie and I didn't know any details of the movie or expect something just want to see Denzel Washington after watching this movie it surprisedly very good action-thriller movie. This movie is slow burn but when the climax come the runtime doesn't matter. I enjoy watching Robert McCall go to kill Russian gangster. Denzel look awesome in this role. He brings new badass action hero similar beside Liam Neeson's Taken and Keanu Reeves's John Wick films.
