The Eternal Memory Reviews
alzheimer’s: one of the cruelest things this universe has to offer.
It's hard to be cynical about love when you see this couple look at each other.
This observative documentary seems to minimally capture the growing signs of dementia and the struggles that come with it, emphasizing the importance of cherishing lasting memories as sympathetically nuanced buildup after respectfully displaying the persons' profiles. (B)
Absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking! But even in the hard days, love still exists. Worth watching but make sure you have tissues. 4 stars
As beautiful as it is sad, watch this when you are feeling tender and have the capacity to view the uncomfortable realities some suffer in their later years. It's an experience told equally from the perspective of someone with Alzheimer's, as from someone who deeply loves him and is his caretaker and witness through it all. There is hardship and humor, sacrifice and connection, mundanity and luminosity.
Perfect opening. The feature covers a vast variety of emotions while maintaining an energy of dreadfulness all throughout. Good pacing, directing, and very educational in a natural way. I was going to compliment the writing but knowing that this is an unscripted documentary, I think it's just that Paulina and Augusto speak words of beauty. Speaking of the couple, they're two of the most lively people I've ever laid my eyes on. Paulina is sweet while Augusto is incredibly charming. You could tell they both truly love each other very much. Great documentary.
A truly beautiful testament to the love of two extraordinary people who have lived rich and meaningful lives and now must face the tragedy of an Alzheimer's diagnosis and the inevitable disintegration of one person's memory. Augusto and Paulina show us such a profound lesson of how to face such a fight with not only dignity, but with a daily restoration of joyful memories and the assurance of unbroken bonds of love. A gift of a film, a beautifully touching and uplifting work of art. Thank you Maite Alberti for another brilliant film. A fitting tribute to two beautiful human beings who knew a transcendent love.
Una historia de amor conmovedora
The most beautiful love story I’ve ever seen!!! Best movie of 2023. Absolute MUST SEE! It will resurrect the faith in love of the most unbelieving
Maravillosa... ❤️❤️😭😭
really beautiful, very moving, realistic, political.
Excellent representation of a drama that many people have to go through with their elders. Pain and anguish are reflected in both of them. Maite did it again!
A tour de Force. Unbelievably great. If this doesnt win the best documentary oscar in 2024 it will be a travesty.
A real, then painful, but beautiful history about resilience, compassion and LOVE. Paulina in an interview said that Augusto forgot she and himself, but until the end she kept recognizing/ remembering HIM in the daily little details, hence kept loving him and being happy with her decision of accompany him. That is (for me) the silver lining and what is perfectly reflected in the film
