The Gentlemen Reviews
If you enjoy Guy Ritchie movies, the you will no doubt love this one. Script is solid, plot is great, and the action is fantastic. The cast itself was stellar. McConauhgy is superb, Ferrell is fantastic, and the rest are excellent. A definite fun watch.
One of my favourite movies. Deliciously devious and gangster as hell. Do yourself a favour and watch it.
Guy Ritchie is back. Haven't felt like this after watching one of his films since Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch & Rock n Rolla. And the cast was absolutely perfect. Especially loved Farrell's performance.
Proper Guy Richie style! He does well weaving a story the captures the contemporary underworld grasping with an inevitable end of prohibition with all the gloriously & cheeky London characters- who find themselves caught up in all sort of schemes and deeds. The language, the delivery, the set up, the music... it's fun, thrilling and captivates much like Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch.
So entertaining and all the characters are so origional. They could all have a spinoff show. Let's get a movie about the coach!
Incredibly enthralling and full of strong, over the top masculine stereotypes, which might deter some, but definitely dragged me in. With the narration being one of this movie’s strong suits, even though at first it seemed a little off putting.
Fun gangster movie with great cast. Enjoyable!
Nothing really impressive. I think One season Is enough.
Guy Ritchie's style oozes style and slick in a fun edgy sort of way. The right cast for the right roles. A movie i could watch numerous times to enjoy. Its the typical Ritchie character interactions that pull this film along. Couple of sharp turns and the recipe for a fresh movie is born. Enjoy
Fun story telling with an all star cast. Action, drama, twists. You won't be disappointed in watching this one, unless you have a stick up your arse.
Enjoyed the storytelling aspect of it while it seems drawl at first it engages as the time cuts flow more into the story
One of the worst films I’ve ever seen. Hugh grant is laughable. Guy Ritchie must of been having a laugh releasing this garbage. The series is better.
A fun crime film with a great cast!
One of my favorite movies ever! Keeps your attention at all times with witty dialogue and fantastic performances. Incredibly fun ride.
It's Horrifically Bad: I watched one episode hoping it would get better and then part of episode two. Near the end of an episode one scene went over the line and was not recoverable in episode two. I do not recommend watching. The language is foul and is a filler for lazy writing with no imagination. The scenes have hideous plot fillers as violence and the whole interpretation is like something from someone's nightmare or drug fueled brain. The fact Netflix has produced this and allowed Guy Ritchie to make it is astounding. The fact that this would get a good review is incredibly disturbing. This is not entertainment it is trashy - with one sick moment after the next which should leave a person in shock as it did me - if it does not there is something terribly wrong that with the viewer to believe that violence and drugs are humorous. Guy Ritchie has never made a good film in my opinion and this is certainly no exception, his lack of character consistently shows. I have cancelled Netflix and was hoping the remainder of the month might have some redeeming things to watch but sadly Netflix is getting much much worse with their graphic violence and vile language not better. There is something deeply wrong at the core of Netflix. I would have given 0 stars if possible.
For people who are already fans of Ritchie's style, this is an absolute home-run. I'd long since believed Snitch was a bit of a one-off, funny, entertaining, hard-hitting, dramatic, stylish... The Gentlemen is a righteous return to form. The cast is stellar, especially the duo of Hunnam and Farrell, meanwhile McConaughey is typically fabulous. This film is an absolute riot and, genuinely, good.
This is year 11 attempt at being Quentin Tarantino. Full of clichés and stereotypes. There's so much expostional dialogue written on the nose that it could pass as Jackanory. Scene after scene of actors trying to bring interest and even the marquee presence of McGonaughey can't lift you from the mundane. Yes it may have its moments, but, too many poor moments quickly erase them. Its all been done and the lack of character and originality just make this film a miss. Its purely for the lovers of this overdone genre cooked until dry. A poor script can't make a good movie. And if you use a rubber hammer in a fight scene make sure it doesn't look like a rubber hammer. It's not Layer Cake.
Really good film it's just unbelievable that Matthew Mcconaughey (Hollywood's Wet Fart) can play a murderous drug dealer, that's like trying to get Stephen Segal to make a good movie or finding a movie Robert Pattinson hasn't almost ruined.
I finally got to see this flick on cable as it, oddly enough, never popped up in our cinemas. It's pretty much a typical Guy Ritchie movie, with its strange slowly paced, but constantly twisting and turning story, involving plenty of characters, all interesting to a certain degree, who altogether make a quirky soup of gangsters and victims. Though there isn't too much real action the flips and spins constantly leading to a never really clear and predictable ending, make this still quite an interesting and enjoyable flick. Matthew's and Charlie's stoic performance perfectly represent Guy's idea of non-transparency. Cool stuff! 6 1/2 points of 10!
Fun movie to watch. Although violent is it has some comic undertones. Very underated; You'll enjoy.
